Please be aware that the path that runs up the side of meadow 1 into the woods is current blocked by a fallen tree. The Friends of Gedling House Woods volunteers will be out tomorrow morning to clear it however in the meantime, please avoid the path as it is impassable.
The sheep are coming today! They will spend approx 5 wks in meadows 2 & 3. The woods will remain open throughout however the meadows the sheep are in will be closed.
As a reminder, please keep out of the meadows where the sheep are & ensure dogs remain under control at all times.
The meadows have now re-opened.
There is a message on our website from our Chair that talks of some of the details involved in this process.

The relentless rain has delayed the meadow's reopening unfortunately. Our hay's too damp to bale. We also don’t want to bring heavy tractors on the fields.
We’re coordinating with our contractor to get things back open asap
Thanks for your patience
The meadows will be closing mid-morning today, Friday 15th and will remain closed until early next week.
This is so that the meadows can be mowed and baled.
Please refrain from entering the meadows during this time. The woods will remain open to visitors.
Annual General Meeting will be held on 28th June at 7pm at Carlton le Willows Sixth Form centre.

This is a requirement under our contract with Natural England.
The herbicide being used is Thrust, and the meadows will remain closed for 24 hours, opening mid morning on Saturday 20th May.
The woods will remain fully open as usual.
On Friday at 8:30am the meadows will be closed to allow spot spraying of herbicide on weeds across all three meadows.
Nettles, thistle and dock all invade the wild grasses and flowers in the meadows so we treat them annually to limit the impact on the wider meadows.
We have a fallen tree across the lower woodland path close to meadow 1. We have contacted our contractors and they hope to attend the site and deal with it soon.
On Thursday and Friday this week, we will have contractors onsite in the woods completing maintenance.
The woods will remain open throughout.
Please be aware that this work is underway when visiting the woods and ensure you observe any guidance given by the contractors.
The sheep that are in meadows 2 and 3, will be moving through to meadow 1 on Sunday 1st January mid-morning.
Meadow 1 will be closed from then until the sheep leave (in three weeks); and meadows 2 and 3 will reopen after the move.
The woods remain open at all times for walking.
We wanted to let you know that due to some challenges with having the sheep delivered, they will not be arriving this week as planned. We are now expecting them in the first half of next week.
We'll let you know when we have a date.
Around 50-60 sheep will be arriving next week, probably on 14th or 15th November. They will be grazing the grass in meadows 2 and 3, so the gates to those meadows will be locked. Meadow 1 will still be open, so you will be able to walk there and in the woods.
