@MorganFussell My guess is because at least 1 printing was a $2-3 common a couple years ago. They decide to reprint it in every bonus sheet they can as a card people want.
@luscielia Given the perspective of time, OW is least deserving. May be colored by how the genre shaped up.
Re-looking at the contenders, overwatch is probably still there but tbh I think Breath of the Wild is my second choice.
@cutiepizzapal@nestapendragon Got a list I can take a look at for inspiration? I'm curious about the recursion package for a more spells longer build of Y'shtola. Sounds like a great time!
@cutiepizzapal@nestapendragon Out of curiosity, is shadow wizard money gang in your context big mana spells, wizard kindred, both, or something I'm out of the loop about?
I've seen a few lists with that title before and wasn't sure if there was a cohesive archetype with that name.
@Metallix87@dbesteck89 I wouldn't say they hate it so much as recognize if you don't get women, kids, teens, or early 20s people into magic now, it will be harder to stay afloat when the 30-40 year old nerdy dudes start hitting retirement age.
@NotYourRock@nestapendragon Yeah at that rate, the mana efficiency of demonic tutor is kinda lost. Any actual bracket 2 isn't going to reliably do this early game anyway and higher brackets this is maybe a 6-mana diabolic tutor that comes with a body.
@Metallix87 Innistrad had effectively 3 sets of cards to establish itself vs 1 for Duskmourn. I know blocks weren't a financial success, but imo DSK, OTJ, or any new plane would likely be much better received if there is more than 1 full set to introduce them.
@NotYourRock@nestapendragon Yeah under the right conditions, most cards are broken but I think the restrictions on this one is pretty fair since you can't prepare this creature on other people's turns but can't use it again the turn you prepare it without a flash enabler.
@Metallix87 I would say the design language matches looking from Innistrad block through the Eldrazi incursion and the more vertical slice of Hunt/Vow. Innistrad benefits from having the most sets behind Dominaria and Ravnica vs Duskmorn's single set plus cameo in Aetherdrift.
@Metallix87 Like I said in my follow up tweet, I think Duskmourn is the exception and not the rule. If a set truly calls for violence or horror, I don't think it will be sanitized in the same way much of Duskmourn felt. I'm not going to worry until somewhere like Innistrad feels this way.
@Metallix87 Not to shit on FaB. I like the art of the cards I've seen. My issue is to claim MtG art is de-fanged when art depicting horror and violence is usually present when a set calls for it. Duskmourn is a def miss when riffing on slasher films but that's an exception imo.
@Metallix87 MtG is marketed to and targeting a 13+ audience despite the average player age pushing 40.
Flesh and Blood (see actual name of the TCG) seems to target a more mature audience but your "fanged" art examples still looks almost cartoonish.
Also these are all modern mtg card arts.
@asilvermyr As someone who wasn't playing during OG Lorwyn, the art is phenomenal and the limited was just fine. No exceptional standout cards but some fun build-arounds and reprints. Not going to do FF or Avatar numbers but probably going to be best or second best set this year.
@OrdinaryGamers Nintendo selling each GBA game for $20 a piece is more profitable instead of $70-80 for a bundle because people will buy every version.
@SplashPlateVGC Better than buying secondary market or emulation but wish instead they did a physical option that was 40$ for both. Would allow a physical copy of the games to continue existing.
imo, should only be $10 at most but I just expect Nintendo to be greedy at this point. 🤷
