@jemima_Dd @ahMedigm_ Well, we could experience a surge in people sick with respiratory disease, but then again we may not, given the trend observed as against what was initially forecasted. Sincerely, it is hard to say. However, it is more advisable to be cautious than not.
@jemima_Dd @ahMedigm_ Nope. The testing modalities and what they test for are different. The hydroxychloroquine drive derived from its effective use against SARS-CoV-1 some years ago.
@jemima_Dd @ahMedigm_ If you're referring to the momentum gained by the virus, then I would have to reiterate its highly contagious nature, with community penetrance to effect community spread.
On its comparison with malaria, I would require more clarification on the context.
@ahMedigm_ @jemima_Dd It is important to mention that this does not in anyway validate or recommend the indiscriminate and over the counter use/abuse of HQ, particularly without a prescription.
There is a reason its use is generally avoided in the late disease: cardiotoxicity.
@ahMedigm_ @jemima_Dd However, it remains included in the regimen for the treatment of Covid-19, especially in the early stage of disease manifestation, alongside steroids, zinc and some antivirals. At this point, we're trying to be safe.
@ahMedigm_ @jemima_Dd Yes. 😅
I was wondering when we were gonna come around to this. 😁
At this point, there is a myriad of information for and against the use of hydroxychloroquine as a treatment option, or even a preventive one.
To be clear, HQ is not yet the cure for Covid-19
@ekerette_ekpo @jemima_Dd What is your take on the hydroxychloroquine treatment of the virus? I really want to hear what you have to say on this one.
#TheConverse#AntiPandemicBan
@ahMedigm_ @jemima_Dd Indeed.
However, we must also bear in mind that if we did more testings, we would likely get more positive results. These don't necessarily translate to Covid-19, as many would be asymptomatic or have mild disease.

@ekerette_ekpo @jemima_Dd Alright. We may say social distancing efforts have been effective then.
Let us not go to the markets, that is a different story. 😀
@ahMedigm_ @jemima_Dd It is hard to say at this point as the disease is still emerging. However, social distancing works, and might be what has helped so far. Realise that even though Nigeria may be populous, we do distance ourselves from one another unless in the markets. 😁
@jemima_Dd @ahMedigm_ ...in relation to these factors which are related to the host, its environment and the properties of the disease agent (SARS-CoV-2 here), its adaptability etc.
@jemima_Dd @ahMedigm_ There are other factors that come into play when discussing disease transmission, all of which must contribute to ensure the propagation or otherwise of a given disease. The measures instituted the world over to curb the spread of Covid-19 where derived...
