MASSIVE Shift in Endometriosis Treatment
In March, the @acog replaced previous guidelines, now prioritizing pain in diagnosis.
This would allow for treatment with NO surgical confirmation, marking the significant shift.
Newer guidelines emphasize a clinical diagnosis based on symptoms. This would aim to improve patient care by reducing delays in diagnoses.

Testicular Tissue is Still Functional After Freezing for 15 Years
A team of scientists in Belgium have demonstrated that spermatogenesis resumes after the transplantation of immature human testicular tissue.
This has large implications for prepubescent male patients who have undergone treatment that could impact their fertility (cancers, etc.)
If they could decide to have part of their tissue resected and frozen, they could preserve the opportunity to have their own biological children in the future.
The first of its kind, another scientific breakthrough.

AI Can Detect Deadly Cancer
A new AI tool, REDMOD, was able to detect pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) in routine CT scans.
But that's not all... it was able to do it 475 days EARLY (median value).
This doubled radiologist' sensitivity, beating typical clinical diagnoses by over a year in advance.
It also maintained a consistent performance across all datasets, marking HUGE advancements in early detection of what is one of the deadliest forms of cancer.

High-Dose Flu Vaccine is Highly Effective in Older Populations
A systematic review was performed, and it was noted that hospitlization risk for pneumonia, influenza and cardiorespiratory diseases was significantly lowered.
This is when compared to just the regular dose vaccine, even moreson when compared to nonvaccinated patients.
Relative vaccine effectiveness has shown to reach up to 38.5%.

New Myasthenia Gravis Treatment Option (UK)
Generalized Myasthenia Gravis (gMG) is a rare autoimmune disorder where antibodies target the neuromuscular junction.
This disrupts the communication between nerves and muscles and is typically first observed in ocular muscles.
The @MHRAgovuk has approved Nipocalimab in patients ages 12 and older.
This medication works by reducing IgG antibodies without any broad immunosuppression. Still allowing symptoms to subside, and with high efficacy and safety.

First FDA Approved Sunscreen Since 1999?
The @US_FDA has approved bemotrizinol as a new sunscreen ingredient, the first in two decades.
This offers broad-spectrum UV protection with low absorption to the skin.
This could impact sunscreen on shelves in U.S stores as soon as July 2026.

First-Ever CKM Guidelines Showing Promise
CKM = Cardiovascular-kidney-metabolic syndrome
Guidelines released by the @ACCinTouch and @American_Heart emphasize integrated care across bodily systems.
Staging:
- 1.) overweight/obesity or prediabetes with NO risk factors.
- 2.) at least one risk factor present (hypertension, diabetes, etc.)
- 3.) subclinical cardiovascular disease and CKM risk factors.
- 4.) diagnosed CVD, obesity/diabetes, or kidney disease.
The guidelines also include treatment plans, as well as the necessity for care coordination.
Multiple specialists working together is cause for prioritizing communication and effective healthcare across all parties.

Can AI Put Oxygen Therapy on Autopilot?
https://t.co/wt8jj2OsnV has developed the FIRST AI-based medical device that can automatically adjust oxygen flow to patients.
This is a new move in the medical field to assist in reducing healthcare staff burden, and individualizing care.
I also personally believe this will help conserve resources, as over oxygenation is very common in long-term care facilities.

Cosmetic Surgeries Abroad - Backfire or Worth It?
More and more clinics around the world are offering procedures or treatments that aren't approved in the U.S or Europe, enticing travelers to participate in a newfound "medical tourism".
It sounds nice to enjoy the beach pre- and post-procedure, new environments and warm weather. It can also save you plenty of money as many have found out, with a breast augmentation costing 4500 euros in France, but 2500 in Tunisia.
However, there are plenty of disadvantages to these procedures that tend to outweigh the benefits.
1. Inadequate Training - the medical training of professionals varies HEAVILY on a country-by-country basis.
2. Poor Hygiene - Hygienic standards also vary heavily by country.
3. Consent is NOT Properly Informed - Often insufficient understanding of the procedure, and contraindications are not properly analyzed. Patients WITH existing contraindications are often operated on.
4. High-Risk Procedures - There is a reason these procedures are not approved in the U.S, as they pose serious health risks and complications for what are often NOT medically necessary procedures.
Patients then tend to come back to the U.S and have to be treated for serious complications here, costing them more money in the end and putting their health at risk.

Artificial Eyes Showing Promise in Rapid Development
3D-printed prosthetic eyes are being developed at @Moorfields Eye Hospital, matching traditional prosthetics in functions AND appearance.
This offers a faster (and potentially more cost-effective) solution to eye injuries or traumas.
The improvement in access will likely reduce waiting times for patients in need of a prosthetic eye.
