Lying is such a grievous sin and yet we are so accustomed to it as a culture.

Lying is the one sin that Satan is called the father of and yet we do it a lot, even "christians".

It starts with Pastors who casually exaggerate testimonies. It starts with preachers who misrepresent their theological credentials or capacity.

It starts with misrepresenting reality in the name of naming it and claiming it.

EVERY MISREPRESENTATION OF THE TRUTH IS A LIE.

An exaggeration of an event is a misrepresentation and it's a lie.

Half truths are lies. The fact that they have an element of truth doesn't make them better. Satan likes using this one in particular a looooot!

Stating things in a way other than they truly are is a lie even if they've convinced you that you need to lie in present terms for your confession to be powerful.

But the problem with lies is that they grow. They don't stay where they are.

So the culture of exaggerations will lead to a culture of slander and pure delusions.

A culture of half truths and "positive confessions" will lead to a culture of giving testimonies that are pure lies, fake miracles and so on.

A culture where saying the truth is not taken seriously is a culture where people will come and tell lies as testimonies in the hope of "perfecting the testimony" because if you can give the testimony in faith, God will be forced to honour your faith and do it.

Our people are liars.

That's why there are too many "Christians" and our country yet it is so corrupt. We tell lies too much.

Check cultures that value truth, and you'll find they have an outsized share of God's common grace at work in their society.

We are a society where people cannot trust others. We are a society where you're constantly gaslighted. We are literally called a LOW TRUST SOCIETY.

We are a society where people cannot trust their reality in what they're told.

Such a society cannot prosper. Such a society cannot do well. It will not even see the common grace of God at work in creation talk less of God's special grace where the image of the Son is on most people.

We tell lies too much!

We need to repent.

Pastors must stop claiming powers and capacities they don't have. They must stop misrepresenting their strengths and weaknesses in order to look great and help people "honour the anointing".

People must stop telling lies with testimonies. Stop exaggerating for effect. Stop adding lies to truth to make it more dramatic or to make God seem more powerful.

GOD DOESN'T NEED YOUR HELP.

THE END DOESN'T JUSTIFY THE MEANS.

Churches that are very attached to supernatural events are particularly prone to this evil.

Repent.

Lying attracts mentally ill people and worsens their conditions. Many of my colleagues know that in psychiatry clinic, a large share of the christians we see are from some particular denominations and groups.

It's not a coincidence.

Lies are poisons. They corrupt our souls and destroys our communities. It's a spiritual cancer.

It is Satan greatest weapon. He loves lies.

We must have a zero tolerance for it.

Whenever you catch yourself saying things that are not true, repent and confess.

God will supply grace.

STOP TELLING LIES.
