and.... it ends. Fuck, I have had my fair share of bittersweet endings already. Straight up masterpiece of a show. I am glad they didn't decide to kill the entire cast, that decision would have sucked. And glad they decided to kill off D, letting him off easy would be weird.
Just saw the Elizabeth Holmes/Nathan Fielder movie.
You know how in โHeatโ De Niro and Pacino only appear together in the diner scene but itโs two apex predators in their prime facing off against each other? This movie is like that but for the apex autists in their field.
A friend asked about my Tokyo shopping list and I figured Iโd share it publicly. My style is a mix of streetwear, independent designers, and (starting to get into) artisanal fashion. Youโll find these stores reflect that

Gr8 (& laforet): favorite boutique, the selection is perfectly on trend. Gr8 is inside laforet which is a shopping mall with tons of interesting boutiques, though most tend to be womens
Studious: all japanese independent designers, this is where you go to discover up and coming Japanese designers you can't find in the west. Equal parts street and more classic menswear
Nubian: similar to Gr8, slightly higher average prices and a bit less friendly. If opium / Harajuku crashout is your style though it's the only place you'll need to hit
Context: sleeper pick for mostly artisanal, reserved menswear (think Guidi, Ziggy Chen, etc). Much more concentrated then the other boutiques but that's a good thing in this case. Prices quite high as you can expect from their selection
DSM Ginza: classic, DSM always worth visiting even just to appreciate the design. I found the selection a step up from NYC store but nothing particularly special
๐๐ฎ๐ฝ๐ฎ๐ป๐ฒ๐๐ฒ ๐ฑ๐ฒ๐๐ถ๐ด๐ป๐ฒ๐ฟ๐:
Hysteric: no longer hyped like they were but hysteric still makes some great stuff. I get something every time I stop by their Harajuku store
Fr2: true Japanese streetwear brand most in the west have never heard of. I'm not huge on most of it but the stores are a fun experience
Kapital: all 6 stores in Tokyo have their own vibe. I would rate them as the three in Ebisu > two in Roppongi > one in Ginza. Selection varies wildly between stores so keep looking if one doesn't have stock
MMY: call it the Balenci of Japan
Yohji: beautifully designed stores, very elegant clothing. Look for Ground Y and Y's (derivative brands) in shopping malls like Ginza Six / Parco / Isetan for more affordable or street versions
Julius: archival vibes without being old, only came to appreciate their work after looking them over in person

Nemeth: I found out about Nemeth on this trip and really like the style, the clothes look like artisanal stage costumes. For whatever reason the two times I went into the store it was completely packed. Strangely, everyone there was Chinese and the white lady working the shop spoke perfect Mandarin. The clothes & store are very well designed but the commotion actively stopped me from buying something both times so wanted to give a warning
Rick Owens: decent Rick store, selection and stock good to great relative to other locations. Can also recommend the (small) Rick Owens in Isetan, which had pretty niche footwear I hadn't seen elsewhere
Chrome Hearts: go for a fitpic in front of the Chrome basketball hoop, stay for the fact that they actually have things in stock (unlike NY)

Archive Store: fittingly labelled an art gallery on Google Maps, this is mostly a showroom for archive Margiela/Yohji/CDG/N(9) that happens to be public. They're super nice about you looking around and don't expect you to buy anything
Lift Daikanyama: niche pick for very high percentile fashion. Stock brands like CCP alongside esoteric Italian brands no one has ever heard of. Beautiful store design, insane prices to match. If you're not dressed to fit the vibe they are not very excited about you being there

You'll end up spending most of your time in Harajuku, though Ebisu, Roppongi, Ginza, and (parts) of Shinjuku all have some highlights. Would also highly recommend a visit to Koenji and Shimokitazawa for second hand designer & vintage shopping. Koenji in particular stood out for great prices on classic Japanese designers (tons of Issey, CDG, Yohji at the 2nd streets). Shimo was more pure vintage, great place to hangout but I didnโt find anything exciting
