Good Nutrition and hydration is a key part of improving clinical outcomes for patients in hospital.We @KingsCollegeNHS have recently relaunched our protected mealtimes. Protected mealtimes will allow our patients to eat their meals without unnecessary interruption. #nutrition

What’s your role in providing patients with adequate nutrition and hydration whilst in hospital?
“Encouraging patients to eat and drink is my main priority, as this can help them get better sooner and make their stay more enjoyable. On arrival, I fill their water jugs and keep topping up. Then I prepare their tables for supper, help serve meals and hot drinks.”
“My role involves co-ordinating the nutrition support team with nursing care.I act as a clinical expert in the assessment of nutritional needs,delivery of treatment.I provide the link between the hospital and community ensuring patients are advocated for & have streamlined care.”

What’s your role in providing patients with adequate nutrition and hydration whilst in hospital?
“Adequate nutrition & hydration are vital in patient’s recovery. My role is to ensure our patients have enough to eat & drink whilst in our care. I do this by assisting them to eat, encouraging fluid intake & ensuring there are fewer interruptions during mealtimes.”
