I genuinely think the standard workday should be 10 a.m.–3 p.m. or 9 a.m.–2 p.m. There’s no reason people should spend the majority of their lives at work. Let people get home with enough time to be with their families, partners, and friends, pursue hobbies, and actually rest. A lot of today’s burnout and unhappiness comes from the fact that work consumes almost all of our waking hours.

When I went to a male gynecologist to discuss getting a hysterectomy because of my fibroids, one of the first things he asked was, “Aren’t you afraid you’ll regret not having children?” I asked him, “Do you regret not becoming a banker?” He looked confused and said, “I never wanted to be a banker.
