I recovered from a 20 year battle with an eating disorder (anorexia and bulimia). I do agree that with my disorder I was using food as a way to control my body and feel that I had power over choosing what I did or did not eat. That power over my body was taken away from me in childhood. I had depression rooted trauma, so I agree that eating disorders have a major underlying issue/trauma. Although I felt “powerful”, really so much of the time I felt out of control with my disorder. And yes I also agree that with addictions you can stop using. With eating you have to continue and find a balance or you die. BUT….the hair….got distracted…had to just listen to the clip a second time to take in what was being said.
Set a reminder for my upcoming Space! https://t.co/2PFym2k5VS As we approach the holiday season, Trigger Season… Let’s discuss how trauma impacts our relationship to food! November we’ll talk about Eating Disorders and Disordered Eating and the link to our childhood trauma.
.@SenAlexPadilla, as your constituent and @edcoalition advocate, I urge you to co-sponsor the Nutrition CARE Act (S.3010) to allow Americans on Medicare Part B to receive Medical Nutrition Therapy services for their eating disorders. #EDCHillDay2024
@DrPhil@MeritStMedia Add in social media, the new rise in ozempic use and how that has eating disorders rise. 🙏 for this to be talked about. I recovered from a 20 year battle with an eating disorder and now help others. But bringing more awareness is badly needed. ❤️
@DrPhil@MeritStMedia I am really looking forward to watching. The topics that are so needed to be discussed openly and honestly are few and far between. I hope you will also touch on mental health and eating disorders and our youth. I work with this population and the stats are getting worse.—>cont
