@whitford747@thomasbrake To clarify - am not arguing against controlled migration - just arguing that the money behind Brexit could not care less about it, and will open other doors to cheap labor.
@whitford747@thomasbrake@whitford747 I trust you have no objection whatsoever to the mass lifting of visa restrictions that the likes of China and India will demand in post-brexit trade deals? Are you so naive to think that businesses backing brexit want to pay the brits more to do the jobs left behind?
@whitford747@AOC@IlhanMN@SpeakerPelosi What is it you are actually trying to say here? Its like you want to come out in support of Trump's statement but are a bit too afraid to spell it out?
@edcaesar (among others!)...any tips for a beachy and engaging mid-level (tech-wise) long read on the current state of the crypto world? Ideally the 'Too Big to Fail' of Bitcoin or similar?
@whitford747 Great to see in principle you are behind the idea of a political union big enough and ambitious enough to address the global issues threatening us all. EU isn't perfect, but project fear is not all fiction.
@whitford747 instead of trying to convince you or anyone else their vote in 2016 was wrong, would like to know exactly under what conditions you would see a political union with Europe as a positive move? Do you have sufficient imagination?
@whitford747 Assume the vote was honored and the UK left. Fine. What gives anyone the right to say that the vote is for a lifetime?! Any given government has 5 years max. Is there any good reason to deprive newly minted voters an opinion on this when the come of age under the next government?
@whitford747@DominicRaab@BorisJohnson Still waiting for a response re TTIP. In 2016 a vote for Brexit was a vote to escape imoending alignment with US standards on trade. Today it's a vote to leap straight into their arms. Surely the most undemocratic thing you can do is oppose a 2nd or confirmatory vote.
@whitford747@joe8715 @CJSTTwo What motivation do workers have for being outside the EU? Instead of competing against a bunch of similar economies with unionised labour they would be up against far cheaper skilled chinese and indian labourers, and/or americans (10 days holiday, no insurance). Who benefits?
@whitford747@joe8715 @CJSTTwo Ok am finally going to bite. Yes there is a heap to rebel against for the working class, but the EU offer far more protection to the worker than those funding the push Brexit who want nothing more than to do away with any form of worker protection. Where is the anger for this?
@tferriss Yousician or anything similar. Why? Because it teaches you to play small pieces of songs you already know, and you achieve far more far earlier than you expect.
@edcaesar As some of followers have picked up, as long as you have been very clear that this what you are focused on, you should be strong and stable enough to deliver the will of the people.
@yonatanzunger@philrandal Every Man Dies Alone by Hans Fallada is novel describing the resistance of one elderly couple inside Germany. Chilling because it is so relatable.
