@thatslux_ This piece of shit is the mainstream TV historian who, in the middle of the Brixton riots, said on Newsnight that the problem was that Britain had become “too black”. He then said to the black guy sitting opposite him that he was okay because he didn’t “sound black”. Madness.
@DominicFarrell@chcompany_1983 Probably because it wasn’t being done by the police and the government, and it was dealt with by people brave enough to call it out, report it, challenge it, and stop it. Unlike, say, systemic racism by powerful institutions. So it’s not the same.
@kind_Wanderer@sterling7 Hi, I think the point of BLM is that there is evidence of contemporary institutional discrimination and abuse against black people, purely because of their skin colour, as opposed to the reasons for (equally deplorable but less systemic) mistreatment of white people by the state.
