In the last 2 days @MelatKirosCO already sounds light years ahead AOC in terms of intelligence and ability to answer questions coherently, with the added bonus of not needing to gesticulate like a high school kid to make her points. We find this deeply problematic.
It’s true, it’s incredibly offensive to believe that we ever *intended* to be genocide supporters, we just found ourselves materially supporting something that *happened* to be a genocide.
"I guess that people feel like it's ok calling people genocide supporters. It's incredibly offensive.
The idea that I, who has devoted my career to public service and civil rights and equal justice, would be called 'a genocide supporter,' 'a baby killer,' is unbelievably offensive.
But it's been normalized to such a degree that it humanizes Jews, and creates an unsafe environment."

The 29-year-old democratic socialist in Colorado who just ousted a 15-term incumbent responds to fears in the Jewish community, including a rabbi who wrote her candidacy "scares me": “My commitment is to protecting the sanctity of human life... and that includes combating the hate and the rising antisemitism that we are seeing."
While we think it is vastly important to (theoretically) have opinions on issues, CIP absolutely CONDEMNS the practice of using effective negotiating tactics to make those issues an actual reality.
Shame on @MelatKirosCO!
⚡️ Melat Kiros: Arms Embargo and Rejecting Corporate PACs Are the Price of Our Votes
Melat Kiros, the democratic socialist who unseated 15-term Rep. Diana DeGette in Denver on Tuesday, told CNN she will not vote for any Democrat for a leadership position who takes corporate PAC money, a “standard” she believes the Democratic Party should be setting moving forward.
She acknowledges it would also apply to House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries.
Kiros is also emphasizing an arms embargo on Israel as a baseline demand of the incoming left bloc. “If enough of us share that commitment to Medicare for All, to ending corporate capture, to an arms embargo, we should absolutely say: here are our conditions,” she told Axios. “If you want our votes on leadership, on appropriations, this is what it costs.”
A full embargo, she told Colorado Public Radio, “is the opinion of the vast majority of Democratic voters.”
Until this cycle, Reps. Rashida Tlaib, Summer Lee, and Ilhan Omar had stood alone among lawmakers in demanding a full embargo; Kiros and the wave of DSA-backed primary winners aligned with her are moving it to the center of their bloc’s agenda.
Sirota: Phil Weiser and Melat Kiros should team up to address important issues like campaign finance
Weiser: Let's lecture her on anti-semitism instead
After Colorado’s anti-big-money election, I’d like to see @MelatKirosCO & @pweiser team up on legislation to publicly finance federal and state elections — like exists in NYC.
“Oveturn Citizens United” is a worthy goal, but not an actual answer to *funding* campaigns.
The only solution is public financing — and we need that to be explicitly discussed beyond the worthwhile rhetoric about Citizens United.
As usual, we completely agree with Neera Tanden that petty Democratic Party factional infighting is BAD strategy, while suspiciously ignoring the fact that we spend countless hours on social media stoking petty Democratic Party infighting.
We just got this INSPIRATIONAL text from @AOC. It sounds like a fully broken abuse victim trying to raise money for her abuser. In other words, it's just the kind of message that CIP can get behind! ¡Viva la revolución incremental!
The arc of the moral universe is long, but it bends towards justice...and then kind of bends in a different direction, because it has ADHD and gets bored easily
