Today saw the release of the Independent Risk Assessment of UK Climate Risk from @theCCCUk It’s conclusions are clear - peatlands must be protected and restored.
We are in full support of the 10 minute rule bill from @SarahDykeLD to #EndPeatSales
It’s time we legislate to ensure that #peat stays in the ground where it belongs 📢
We need to act now. Ask your MP for their support on 6 Nov ⬇️

Here's your reminder @MaryCreagh_ that in 2016 you called for action to stop the burning of peat moorlands.
Yet it's 2024 and peatlands are still being damaged.
Now you are Minister for Nature, will you deliver a complete ban on burning?
In times gone by, when people had a deeper connection to the land, we knew all about boggarts. These elusive, mischievous and magical creatures can show great kindness to those who treat them with respect but, if insulted or misused, they become disruptive and dangerous. 🧵
Just found this on my feed . . .
Well , I’d rather spend every breath trying to do something than waste a lifetime doing nothing
And ultimately - you never know . . . worms turn , sometimes on a sixpence
#RestoreNatureNow
Things can only get better , right ?
In a climate and biodiversity crisis we can’t take that risk . Pledge to march with us on June 22 – nature can’t wait .

🚨Prime Minister @RishiSunak has announced a #GeneralElection for 4 July.
This is a hugely important election for nature and the climate.
We must use our vote to ensure the next government does everything in its power to protect and restore nature in the uplands and beyond.
What would a Bumblebee vote for? A hedgehog? A puffin? A peat bog? What kind of world are they asking for?
Our species are asking, now is our chance to answer.

@Conservatives@LabourParty@LibDems@TheGreenParty please recognise the value of nature in your manifesto
Peat compost must be banned, this is a prime example of why we need strong government that is willing to act to protect our society through nature that we depend on. Relying on 'market forces' just turns out natural system into a more fragile stack of cards.
We're so happy that @Morrisons are selling plants raised in #PeatFree compost!
If you're buying plants, check they were raised peat-free
Peat-free retailers protect peatlands. When a peatland is dug up for compost the rare plants and wildlife are lost.
Protect nature go peat-free
Today, a bill that seeks to ban peat sales in England will be introduced to parliament.
After 40 years of campaigning, could a ban on peat-based composts finally be within reach @RishiSunak?
It’s time peat stays in #BogsNotBags. 👉 https://t.co/3mQUkoX7bO
If you haven’t already PLEASE EMAIL YOUR MP through this @gardenorganicuk link, and ask them to be in the commons next Wednesday and to support #PeatFree legislation!! Thank you.
