We have a deep appreciation for the Clubhouse members who help us create a warm, healing, and welcoming place for the recovery community and the newcomer! It’s not staff who run the clubhouse, it’s our members! Whether it’s helping to run the cafe, stock and sort items for the clothing boutique, organize a social activity, or clean the facilities. Each member helps by contributing their skills, talents, and time to this peer collective. ☮️

Clubhouse members are learning marketing and design skills with Canva as part of our 12-week Recovery Works program. Recovery Works is a supported employment program for members of the Clubhouse, offering job training and employer networking, individualized employment coaching, recovery support, and assistance finding and obtaining work.

Our program is designed with community partners in mind. Our team works collaboratively with organizations like College of Southern Nevada, Culinary Academy of Las Vegas, United Movement Organized Kindness, Restaurant Hospitality Institute, IBEW Local #357, West Charleston Library, and others to give members opportunities to explore higher education, the trades, and other training programs while pursuing employment.

⚠️ Medicaid rulemaking is underway, and the outcomes could have lasting effects on people seeking recovery.

Current proposals could:

❌ Make it harder for some people with SUDs to qualify for work requirement exemptions

❌Limit reimbursement rates for Medicaid-funded services, including recovery supports.

Faces & Voices of Recovery is working with the Legal Action Center and coalition partners to ensure recovery remains a priority in the implementation process.

Recovery works and policy should support it.

A room of organizations, advocates, and agencies from across the country gathered last week in Washington DC for SAMHSA’s Opening Doors for Recovery meeting. Our Executive Director Sean Hampton was invited to share ideas and strategies to expand recovery support services, peer-run organizations, and the peer workforce. We’re honored to have been among so many other incredible people and organizations working to uplift the voices of people in recovery and address barriers to care in our Country. It was an honor to learn alongside so many passionate advocates dedicated to helping others. There’s something powerful about people with lived experience coming together to support hope and recovery.

We’re proud to help prepare the next generation of Nevada’s behavioral health workforce, led by the strength of lived experience.

A special thank you to The Reno Initiative for Shelter and Equality for graciously hosting this training. Congratulations to this week’s graduates! Next up: completing a 500-hour supervised internship and then the state certification exam.

Too often, when we talk about addiction and mental health, our focus is on crisis, treatment, and stabilization. Those services save lives but recovery doesn’t end when treatment does.

Long-term recovery is sustained through connection, purpose, meaningful work, stable housing, and access to healthcare.

The Recovery Clubhouse is a peer-led community for people in recovery and our families. It’s not a program, it’s a #ThirdSpace to build friendships, develop new skills, give back through service, and experience the simple but powerful feeling of belonging.

Almost one year ago, we launched Member Living, a housing and supported employment program designed for men and fathers navigating recovery.

Men’s mental health and loneliness remain a silent crisis. Too many men are struggling without close friendships, support systems, or safe spaces to heal and grow. Men are 2-3 times more likely to have an alcohol use disorder. 25% of US males report not having any close friends or support system, and suicide remains one of the leading causes of death for Men under the age of 35 in the United States. As a community we need to come together to address this.

That’s why we’re grateful for partners like DAD INC., who visited the Clubhouse last week to meet our staff and members. DAD INC. provides free workshops and coaching to help fathers become more engaged parents, partners, and community leaders.

We’re excited to work together to empower men in our community through purpose, fellowship, recovery, and service to others.

These graduates are on their way to becoming state certified Peer Recovery Coaches. Next up: completing their internship hours and sitting for the state exam.

Peer Recovery Coaches draw on their own lived experience with substance use or mental health recovery, combined with specialized training, to support, mentor, and advocate for others on their recovery journey.

We’re excited to watch this group step into the behavioral health field and make a meaningful impact in our community. 💙🩵
