Electoral count officers saying the Fine in Fine Gael like the English word “fine” is like nails on a chalkboard to me. Also, can we get ISL interpreters at all these electoral count centres? Basic stuff. #Election2024
Open, candid and authentic: Irish Olympians are ditching clichéd, robotic, media-trained interviews in favour of showcasing confident, authentic personalities. By @AaronGallagher8@DCU https://t.co/bHnhGrZFR7
Ive just heard a tackle described as a “cynical tackle” and not for the first time. How can a tackle be cynical? Isn’t the only person being cynical the one describing the tackle as cynical? The tackle may be a mean spirited tackle but it’s not cynical. #Pedantry
Never go to Boots on your birthday. I am left googling what the various age serums I bought actually do and which are just snake oil (basically all of them)
A bit of misunderstanding about the point of @Cula4_TG4. One of the biggest challenges raising kids through Irish is that media is overwhelming English in Ireland. Unless in one of the very few strong Gaeltacht areas they will be exposed to a lot of English every day. 1/3
So yes, we need tools, classes and centers to encourage the learning of the language. But we also need strong high quality media for young native speakers and young learners so they can acquire a richness in the language and see it as a tool for communication and entertainment.
This makes it very hard to stop a drift away from the language and exacerbates challenges for Gaeilge to survive as a modern language. Without a strong Irish speaking youth population there’ll be no Irish to protect in the future. 2/3
.@rte This is the couple of days where very annoyed #Eurovision fans get on your case about our record of late. Just get rid of the public for a minute and decide to ask @MuireannNic so we can take the easy win. They’d call off the competition.
Do you want something pitch perfect, ludicrously clean, transcendent and stunningly beautiful, Muireann once again has you covered:
