Happy Arbor Day! Let’s go hug a tree, say thanks and donate in support of the Preserves that take care of us. https://t.co/jyhgBw5Awi #ArborDay#giveback#cleanair#healthywater
Trees give us so much: from the wondrous beauty of redbud blossoms beginning to open in a spring rain to cleaner air and less pollution. With tens of millions of trees, the Forest Preserves of Cook County cleans and cools the air we breathe.
These lands absorb as much greenhouse gas annually as is produced by more than 330,000 cars. They filter stormwater to keep pollution from entering our waterways and help protect against flooding by absorbing hundreds of millions of gallons of rainwater each year.
The Forest Preserves of Cook Count is home to nearly 70,000 acres of wild and wonderful forest preserves, which help clean our air and water and absorb carbon emissions and stormwater. Please #InvestInOurPlanet this #EarthDay by donating to the Forest Preserve Foundation.
Great news! We received an Oberweiler Foundation grant for Spring Lake Nature Preserve. Invasive brush removal will allow native wetland vegetation to grow along the banks of Spring Creek, which will improve water infiltration & decrease soil erosion into the waterway. @FPDCC
