@RobJHallam@Streets_72@TheS_Resource The best 10 year old we have seen only took up football because dance wasn't "masculine: enough. He looked rough initially because he had no view on which foot was his dominant. Within 3 months - best player on the team. Within one season - streets ahead.
@RobJHallam@Streets_72@TheS_Resource The implicit assumption here that 12 year old who has never played in a team has to "prove" him/herself. There is evidence to suggest that a child who has participated in multiple sports might be ahead of his football focussed peers: physically, psychologically and socially.
@Britcoachesnet Rondo/passing drill one (or more) practice(s) with in the session. Our do your sessions typically only have one practice? NB as the session stands there is no consequence/reward for successfully progressing the ball from the GK. Lastly the number 8 isnt the only option.
@Britcoachesnet IOO its too big a sacrifice to the extent this practice doesn’t translate into the game. Nothing about this form is realistic for either team. Make it into a phase of play. Use a smaller rondo as activation/technical practice or a passing drill which focusses on the pattern(s).
@RFCoach_ we often confuse playing out from the back with playing through the thirds. In posession, If the ball is in defensive zone, any forward progress is playing out from the back. In this clip there are two 1v1s in advanced positions. Even if it didn't work why not try them?
@cmttx@AlexiLalas A players' first experience is typically in a public park with an enthusiastic volunteer. Coupled with an extensive scouting network that identifies and tracks talent. Pro clubs run inexpensive development programmes...pro academies (from U9) are essentially funded by TV money.
@CasualsConey@AlexiLalas Think of your favorite world class player and ask where would the be if pay to play to - US Levels - was a thing in their country.
@CasualsConey@AlexiLalas This is exactly how many Top Pros in Europe get their start. In public parks with volunteers who are passionate about getting kids to love the game. Many have as their mission that no child is excluded for financial reasons. Professional clubs scour these parks for "talent"
@PlanItCoach Yes provided that the coaches understand that a visual perception "current" ability can change week to week so therefore can appreciate what (long term) development look like at those ages.
