Pretty solid start to the window. A solid, experienced leader who will drive standards in the dressing room, and a younger permanent player we could potentially develop and sell on.
We’ve not had enough of either in the last couple of years, credit where it’s due. #wafc
@upthetics25@faz42 It needs a unified approach, but I sadly don’t think it’ll ever happen.
Danson is an incredibly private man so any targeting of his companies pressure applied to them would cause a lot of embarrassment for him
@upthetics25@faz42 Yeah I agree he’ll use the Stadium as a way to recoup money. Issue is most Latics owners would want at least 50/50 ownership of it, and he doesn’t want to lose £8M + per year, so something will have to give in negotiations.
@upthetics25@faz42 Yep and he’s got no interest in forking out £8M a year consistently, never has. Club have tried to pretend otherwise…
He’s not getting the £19M back and his own Business has had a grim year, our bargaining position with a new owner is strong imo.
@upthetics25@faz42 If I’ve mistaken you then fair enough. I can’t stand life under Danson but I don’t see how his ‘pockets’ have benefited from the club. It’s losing £8M a year and will continue to. Granted he has stolen the Stadium and I’m sure will be reluctant to give it back cheaply.
@upthetics25@faz42 It’s our club. Always will be, I definitely think a stand needs to be taken and some proper accountability from the local media. But boycotting is ridiculous, he’s not taken a penny out so our money goes to WAFC generally, and lower attendances make us less sellable.
@upthetics25@faz42 You suggested we’re lining his pockets. He’s got no interest in putting money in or seeing us thrive, but he’s not making a profit on the club. He’s never getting £19M or anywhere near it and those loans will be written off as is common…
@upthetics25@faz42 Interest free loans are how a fair amount of owners run their clubs. There’s no chance of him getting it back, club isn’t worth £19M and we’re not making that money any time soon.
@upthetics25@faz42 He won’t get that £19M loan back, he will get a small return on his investment though obviously has control of the ground.
He’s a truly awful over and it’ll be a great day when we’re rid of him, but suggesting he’s taking money from the club is extreme.
Not to add fuel to any fire here, but Carraghers contract also expires in 2027 and no renewal is close currently. Expect him to leave for a cut price fee this summer…
Matt Smith and Weir also apparently been offered contracts at other L1 clubs. #wafc
@Ticsmon1932 Fair enough, can’t really argue too much with anyone who makes that decision.
Definitely feel like some form of unified message that we’re sick of being treated like an afterthought would be good, but our fanbase uniting behind a cause will never happen.
Up on this time last year.
Sooner we’re Danson free the better, but boycotting isn’t the answer here. (And is only being proposed by people who watch at home anyway)
If our crowds drop, he cuts the budget much further and it feeds into their Rugby town narrative. #wafc
Id like to see season ticket sales for next season because a lot of people you talk too aren't renewing because of the disconnection between club and fans , I've had one for over 20yr and wont be going till we are sold to someone interested in Wigan Athletic again #wafc
@ForeverWAFC@upthemtics1932 Can you name how many sell on fees have worked in the last ten years ,,dont work in our favour lets have the extra cash now might not be much but its there
@faz42 I don’t think the owners care enough to try and appease us.
Power is coming back because he’s good mates with Caldwell and Perkins and it’s a move closer to home for him.
