@KesariDhwaj @alpha_defense Rohit,F404 for Tejas Mk-1 was selected in 2004.This is shown on the GE website.The engine being discussed in 2008-9 is probly F414 (with a 36 inch dia) vs the EJ-200 (29 inch, and not needing any LCA fuselage modification).For information, the F-404 has approx 30 inch dia.

@VedantOps This is true with manual machinery. CNC don't have critical operator involvement, and skill set is G-code change over to produce another part type, and the skills are simply not required. Also, it sucks to pay 'em their salary, annual bonus, labour union etc etc.

@Neetivaan Wat he's saying is nothing new.Certain leadership didn't allow this.DRDO Samir Kamath says Kaveri doesn't meet thrust level, so no fitting on FTB.Based on reading of literature, even Trent and F404 didn't meet thrust levels, but were fitted on aircraft and developed further.

@ParaRjs Why?Jaguars not too old,last 17 orders in 2017. DARIN update good enough.HAL built 120.But.....they didn't localise parts, so Adour Engine bits/seals/rings/etc. reqd. Old aircraft from UK used as X-mas tree.IAF also bought French/Omani ones.We import wat we used to build.
