@Drachs1978@VulpineLune@spaceartnoob@HeapsofSteam They just donโt understand the tech and what it allows an indie to accelerate.
I worked on my own engine with Claude and it allows me to materialise a vision for a game I could not entertain without it.
@Cutlaska We all wanted vitality to boost our chances.
We have to rethink the approach.
The meta is to fly just below the radar and work on something that looks too unique and tedious to replicate, even with AI, so the thieves have their attention on something else (like single gimmick).
@PokeIndie I agree apart from โAI is a tool, like any otherโ.
Itโs truly a groundbreaking tech that can accelerate an individual in ways that were simply impossible before.
Youโre probably in a niche domain expertise where thereโs diminishing return to using agentic coding for very complex problems (for now, all bets are off every 6 months).
But most coding jobs are for roles that can be accelerated with AI coding today, and AI harness is a key skill.
If you do not want to be affected by AI labelling, your only choices are:
1) select another engine that wonโt include AI code in its direction of travel (I donโt even know if it will be possible)
2) create your own engine from scratch and manually code it
3) campaign to have AI labelling removed.
Dear @TimSweeneyEpic ,
You've done more damage to developers with your pro-Ai crusade that even if a developer doesn't use gen ai or ai tools in future UE6 games, the customers will label the game as - made with ai - because its UE and because of how you've been gloating about pushing AI.
You just don't realize it (or perhaps not even care) because you are solely focused how fast users will be able to generate content for fortnite by pushing development with Ai. And that is your entire incentive in this debacle isn't it not.
You fought Apple, Google, etc so more of the spending people did on Fornite would return back to Epic rather than the platforms having a bigger cut and you did it in the name of "this is for the developers" faรงade.
This is all about money at the end of the day and everybody can see it now.
@AugustRaven Developers have always had the option of creating their own engine. Now itโs going to get a lot easier, especially for games with simpler needs. There are also permissively licensed alternatives like Godot. Everyone should do whatever is best for their particular game.
@TimSweeneyEpic@richgel999@AugustRaven Itโs exactly what I started 2 months ago. I wanted to see how I could incorporate it as part of the creative process for my game. Entirely agentic coded in Rust with Claude Code.
Everything in that recording (including meshes and animations) is rust/wgsl files.
After 2 months.
@JKoukourakis@sarcastic_dom There are only 3 options:
1) ignore the tech
2) embrace the tech and do slop
3) embrace the tech and create something authentic and positively meaningful
Itโs quite an easy choice when you think about it.
