Netflix when trying to buy WB: ‘We are committed to the theatrical experience.’
Netflix now: ‘Don’t even step to us about having your movie released theatrically. If that’s your game, then just keep on walking.’
A group of U.S. states, including California and New York, are preparing to file a lawsuit to block Paramount's acquisition of Warner Bros.

I love movies.
I hate the 5 star rating system.
One number can’t capture why a movie worked (or didn’t). Was the story gripping but the direction flat? Did the sound design carry it when the acting didn’t? A single star rating flattens all of that. It doesn’t help that written reviews are legitimately just jokes for likes nowadays.
That’s why I’m building Screenjudge.
A community powered platform where every movie gets rated across five dimensions: Story, Acting, Visuals, Sound, and Direction (0-10 each with half steps). The overall score is the average, but the real value comes from the breakdown. It sparks better conversations and feeds a recommendation engine that actually gets you and your taste for movies.
Built for people who ever wished ratings could be more honest, more useful, and more fun… this is it.
Screenjudge is live and growing.
200+ users.

1200+ ratings.

Christopher Nolan's #TheOdyssey is officially rated R.
The movie carries a reported budget of $250 million, making it perhaps the most expensive R-rated movie in history (topping the likes of “Joker: Folie à Deux” and “Deadpool & Wolverine”).

Can we stop pretending he isn't one of the great artists of our time? He is. He's also betrayed everything he stood for by endorsing AI. Two things can be true. Jesus Fuck!
I liked Scorsese as a teenager, but after that, he’s really close to nothing. I can’t stomach the insipid voiceovers that hold your hand through a 3 hour film. It’s not about the AI business. We already know he worships money and celebrity. At this point, he’s just a nuisance.
I am just as mad about Scorsese's AI move as much as the next person. Can we not pretend his other movies suck, please? Raging Bull is a masterpiece. He has many of them.
'Backrooms' director Kane Parsons isn't a fan of generative AI
"If I could snap my fingers and make generative AI disappear forever, I probably would"
"Creatively, I get no enjoyment from using those tools. It defeats the purpose entirely for me"
He thinks there may be uses in tedious VFX labor 'but right now it's difficult to discuss objectively because there's so much at stake and so many genuinely harmful consequences already happening"

Martin Scorsese has joined a generative AI startup as a partner and advisor.
He adds that he has used AI during pre-production to help with storyboarding — “with this tool, I can share what I’m visualizing more clearly & efficiently to my creative team — the production designer, art designer and cinematographer.”

I don't care if the films are bad. First time directors often shell out underwhelming work. Kubrick's first two were pretty blah. But unlike Chris Stuckmann, I'll say so.
Hasan Piker confirms his UK visa has been revoked after pressure from pro-Israel groups
He was scheduled to speak at the Oxford Union, SXSW London, and to interview Yanis Varoufakis
But it was progressive. It is too limited in many capacities and has given rise to oligarchies and boom or bust cycles, but it has aided in advancement of technology, and thus, production. These are facts. I can acknowledge it and still oppose capitalism. Which I do.
@NewJohnPACity You'd think they'd go the extra mile to make something good for the cinemas. But no, they had to waste our time with this painfully average thing.
"All art is based on technology."
George Lucas, one of the great visionaries in film, said it. Cave paintings, film, digital... now AI. Every wave is the same impulse with a different tool. New tools open new stories. He calls it "freeing the medium." Freedom is art's destiny.
Fascinatinf contradiction. You deny the genocide in Gaza, but support Taiwan's self-determination. This is a terrible point. China has not invaded Taiwan yet. Israel has bombed Gaza and the West Bank.
