Next time a stranger at a bar asks if you're a patriot, do not say yes.

Chase Hughes walks through a hypothetical recruitment, and it starts with someone telling you he loves your podcast and then asking whether you'd consider yourself a patriot. That first yes is what he builds everything else on - your identity.

Next he asks if you'd be willing to look at something that might be uncomfortable. Then he shows you your browsing history and webcam captures from your phones and computers, offers to keep it all out of the public eye, and puts $20,000 a month on the table. All you have to do is keep a few people off the show and leave a few things out, for your country.

What gets me is that the protection covers more than your reputation. It also hands you a story you can live with, where every concession counts as service.

"They don't build influencers. They find the ones who are already successful and recruit them."

Apparently the benefits package includes getting to keep calling yourself independent.

Let us call this what it really is. Governor Kathy Hochul fired people for being whistleblowers! The problem is they’re blowing the whistle on the agency she oversees and she didn’t like being told on. So she fired the messengers. The statistics speak for themselves. How would that help recruitment? Her self proclaimed aggressive recruitment has made things worse. Month after month the staffing is a net loss, not a net gain. So, even more people are running for the door. (See NYSDOCCS fact sheet for the receipts) She made a commissioner, a man who was part of the system for years. He hired all his family members and put his brand into all sensitive leadership positions. The Martuscello brand is incompetency and it proved itself incompetent with a stain on Hochul. When the whistleblowers told about how they were being treated and brought to light the grave safety concerns, they were penalized. HOCHUL hides behind her terminations were right and just. But history and current lawsuits are proving otherwise. Governor HOCHUL fired her own employees to keep a secret, and is still upset that the employees blew the whistle on her. It really is that simple. If Governor Hochul cannot run a prison system, she certainly should not be running NY State. You cannot have the people that created the crisis be the ones to solve it.

They are proposing cutting down 725 ACRES of forest for Town Line Solar across the Towns of Thompson and Forestburgh in Sullivan County, New York.

I don't think I've ever seen this much proposed forest-clearing for an ORES solar project. And I've seen some pretty messed up cases of 200-300 acres of forest felled for a form of energy in our climate that will only convert at 12-15% of its annual potential.

Remember that 1 acre = roughly the size of a football field.

They want to cut down 725 acres of forest. There's a lot of money in this project for the logger, which, interestingly enough, the current ORES Executive Director, Jason Zehr, has family business ties to state logging contracts.

When you consider that there are, on average, 614 live trees per forested acre in Upstate NY, that means this solar complex would result in the felling of 445,000 live trees.

For those who need a 7th grade science reminder, trees lower localized temperatures through transpiration. Trees are also an important part of mitigating "climate change" by removing CO₂ from the atmosphere through photosynthesis and storing carbon in trunks, roots, other vegetation, dead organic matter, and forest soils.

This has never been about "saving the climate" or improving the environment.

It's entirely about money and control.
