What does Fórsa Left stand for?
A handy 🧵 for reference:
1) The repeal of the 1990 industrial relations act and the end of social partnership.
We want a fighting union, with reps who truly represent our interests rather than just cosying up to govt
Fórsa Left endorse Catherine Connolly for the presidency as a pro-Palestine, pro-neutrality, pro-worker candidate.
@forsa_union_ie should follow the example of other unions and trade union activists by doing the same.
Fairplay to Wicklow Health Branch!
We need to bring the Palestine movement into the workplace.
Talk to your colleagues about organising a walkout for Palestine.
If you're a healthcare worker in Fórsa and you're sick of waiting for your union to organise the strike you voted for, join Fórsa Left today

Healthcare workers voted to strike due to increasingly dangerous staffing levels. This is a result of the longstanding drive by the state/HSE to privatise.
So what's the hold up? @forsa_union_ie 🤔
you can organise talks on unions as political orgs, they can get Jane McAlevey (RIP) (wrote about how community and worker movements are indivisible) to come to conference and do a workshop, that's all well and good.
But when will this be reflected in your organising strategy?
ICTU/Fórsa have consistently shown no willingness to mobilise people on housing through Raise the Roof.
Fórsa's members are facing eviction and skyrocketing rents.

This lunchtime healthcare staff at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital are calling for safe staffing levels. Patients deserve a public health service that ensures safe and timely care.
Huge turnout for the 3rd protest by HSE employees, in Drogheda & Tullamore.
The determination at the protests is growing & growing. Frontline workers know the Pay & Numbers Strategy is the recruitment embargo under another name.
And they won't stand for it #ServicesAreSuffering
10 years ago today 120,000 marched on water charges.
We need same again on housing but our unions need to pull the finger out.
Mass movements like water can make a right wing government surrender and discipline the likes of Sinn Féin when they hesistate.
Remember our power.
Since last week The Ditch has twice alerted government to the illegal carriage of munitions to Israel on a FedEx flight route from Memphis to Cologne
We can confirm that yesterday’s flight – which flew over Ireland – was carrying IDF munitions for delivery to Nevatim air base
Unions need to push for a massive housing protest before the next budget
Fascists pose an existential threat to unions + migrant workers
Start acting like it. Bring people out onto the streets, direct blame where it lies
The govt, developers, vulture funds, landlords
We stand with communities.
We stand with migrants.
We stand with ALL workers.
Anyone peddling racism instead of real solutions doesn't care about you or your family.
After the violence last night in Dublin, we're again calling on workers of Ireland to reject hatred & division.
Beware of any politician who tells you they want to "house the Irish first." They might just turn out to be a parasite landlord. People like Michael Leahy are why we haven't got anywhere to live.
Ireland is not full. We have 160K vacant properties and a landlord govt.
An Irish Freedom Party European candidate uses a fake name to run a rent pressure zone Airbnb in a converted office space for almost €1,000 a week
Michael Leahy says he’s “passionate” about “making it affordable for people to access the housing market”

“The nightmare of an apocalyptic world has come. Machines hunting down people. Weaponized AI is already being used in Gaza. The Palestinian people are the experiment for this insane and deeply flawed and dehumanizing technology.”
—American actor Mark Ruffalo
Proud moment today helping a couple of zionist motions get defeated at the @forsa_union_ie conference
Referenced "human shields"+ "the Israel-Hamas conflict." May have seemed a sensitive issue to some delegates but I'm delighted we passed various concrete pro-BDS motions instead
Deadline for voting on the public sector pay deal is today at noon.
The proposed deal doesn't match inflation, even over the past three years.
95% of Fórsa members surveyed last year said they would ballot for industrial action in this scenario.
Vote no. Fight for better.
