@samjdonohue Dr Sam, has a great ring to it Sam - what a journey from those 1st days of the nursing associate role. You have been nothing but inspirational to all. It’s been a great pleasure to have had our paths cross all those years ago, so proud of you,who knew what the future would bring.

NHS mileage rates: don’t nurses deserve a fairer deal?
Nurses in the NHS who drive their own cars for work receive financial reimbursement determined by the NHS mileage allowance – but critics say these are too low, leaving some nurses out of pocket.

Today is National Schizophrenia Awareness Day

Dealing with stigma is 1 of the hardest aspects of having schizophrenia & it’s getting worse, despite general MH awareness improving #NSAD24
Today is National Schizophrenia Awareness Day in the UK. Schizophrenia is a mental health condition affecting approximately 1 in 100 people. It is one of the most stigmatised and misunderstood mental health conditions.
Schizophrenia does not mean ‘split personality’. It does not mean that someone is dangerous. In-fact, they are much more likely to be the victim of crime rather than a perpetrator. It does not mean someone cannot live a fulfilling life, have a career or a family - every individual’s experience is different, but it is likely they will experience periods of being unwell & distressed, and periods of stability where they feel able to manage day to day life.
@MindCharity, @Rethink_ and @mentalhealthuk have some useful information on their websites.
