I side with Mixel here to 100%. Charity is good, just play another game to do it.
In my eyes, the whole response from Rare felt like that one South Park episode, where the CEO dude only says "We are sorry" over and over again after a catastrophic oil leak.
Today, I decided to touch some grass for most of the day and figured, what the hell, lets see how many people are in protest of the "nothing burger" that was posted and see how many people were streaming Sea of Thieves.
To my surprise, some of the most "outraged" people, that were in "complete protest" are, in fact, streaming the game. I'm confused.
We are for once all united in protest, wanting some reform/change with how things are handled for the future and for certain people to be held accountable for the vile thing that happened in our beloved Sea of Thieves.
By streaming the game, you weaken the leverage of the collective group (the community) efforts allowing Rare to continue operations and ultimately undermine what this could of achieved.
Because you would rather have some good metrics for your Twitch, there is an increased likelihood that nothing will change. You are showing them (Rare), they have all the bargaining chips and power. That no matter what happens, you will still play/stream their game.
"But Mix? The Charity Efforts!?"
Choose to support whichever charity you believe in, but seriously, do it in a different game there are thousands to choose from.
Even if its just for one day. I think we can all avoid playing Sea of Thieves for a bit.
In my eyes it's time to jump in our ships, fly up to the bloated corpse that is Rare and Sea of Thieves, and blow it up.
Personally, I have reached a point where I can't, and Won't, even defend the whole thing in the slightest anymore.
Hey so, my buddy send me this picture about the current situation.
Just wanted to tell you all that I distance my Art and myself from this disgusting human being.
That is all, thanks.
@Giovann69642526@_GhostAdmiral I didn't twist his words? I repeated what he said.
Admiral asked if the things he listed (Ship, new map expansions) were still planned, and Mike replied that he couldn't confirm any of the things mentioned on said list, but that they were working on SOMETHING behind the scenes.
If you told someone back then that THE Ghost Admiral was losing hope in Rare and Sea of Thieves, people would look at you like you lost your damn mind.
It breaks my heart to see it.
Welp, GG's it's over. l cannot put into words how unbelievably confused I am. What have the Captain's Of Adventure been working on for the past year? What happened to resources being put towards "larger updates in scope"? We have 6 months without any content. #SeaOfThieves
@Giovann69642526@_GhostAdmiral Regarding the second point, that they want to repair the core first, all I can do is wait and see. In the past, I've experienced Rare fixing important issues, but also serious or annoying problems that persist to this day.
@Giovann69642526@_GhostAdmiral Mike says he can't confirm anything specifically from Admiral's list. And looking back, it's possible things can simply be canceled again.
@Giovann69642526@_GhostAdmiral As far as I can tell, Mike only said that he can't confirm anything, and that the custom seas and the core gameplay are currently the priority. where latter was repeatedly promised.
I think that the problem is that the players, when the BW set came out, said "Hey Rare? We think it's not good that lore sets are being sold in the Emporium for real money."
And Rare's response with this set comes across as:
"Lol, ok? Anyways, give us more money :)"
Tbf they have made a lot of PE lore sets. But I agree it's dumb, these are Main SoT lore characters they're doing now.
Eternal Freedom
Cursed Ferryman
Royal Revenge
A Pirate's Life
LeChuck's Legacy
Mêlée Island
Mad Monkey
Legend of Monkey Island
(Shrouded Ghost and Soulflame)
A trailer eight years in the making! Enjoy a quickfire glimpse at some of the stories and shenanigans awaiting pirates who chart a course for the Sea of Thieves, all set to a rousing score that's sure to inspire even the surliest of old salts to answer the call to adventure.
Maul Shadow Lord is soon upon us. I can't wait to see
my favorite guy again!
To celebrate the start of the show, I also made a little something. I hope you guys like it! 👹✨
Today’s Dev Direct felt underwhelming, there’s not really a softer way to say it. Making Custom Servers free is a genuinely good move, but it raises a bigger question of whether that’s the main focus of Season 20 or just one part of it.
The reaction from chat seemed pretty clear. Most people weren’t especially excited about Custom Servers, aside from those who initially thought it meant PvE servers and then felt let down when that wasn’t the case.
The bigger issue is that it didn’t answer the questions people were hoping for. If anything, it created more. What happened to the Orb teases, what does the new seasonal model actually look like, and where is the team focusing its efforts going forward. These were the kinds of things many expected to hear about, especially since the Dev Direct was delayed with the explanation that there needed to be a clearer direction for the seasonal approach. That clarity just didn’t come through.
Instead of feeling like a direct update, it ended up feeling more indirect, leaving people still waiting for the bigger picture.
I love you guys, but this was really dissapointing. #SeaOfThieves
I may sound like a cynical asshole at this point, but to me this Direct was nothing more than shaking keys in front of a child to distract them.
*jingle jingle* "Custom Seas are free, and we change season progression. Don't listen to the criticism, look how generous we are!"
@CaptMcGuffin Right now, I just keep seeing a pattern.
- Insiders are talking about "cool new things" coming
- those cool new things will be shelfed and never be heard of again.
- They give us recolored missions, a reskined enemy type, and the 10th QOL change
- Repeat
