A Dream debut with a big win! It means so much to step onto the pitch wearing this badge for the first time. Thank you, Blues, for the love and support. The journey starts now! 🔵🦁
I personally withdraw my earlier remarks that may have appeared disrespectful to the Governor of Edo State, His Excellency, Senator Monday Okpebholo.
Governor Monday Okpebholo was in Osun State for the election and, in my view, conducted himself in a very uncharitable manner. But the election is now over. Going forward, I would respectfully advise the Governor to speak more through his media aides and reduce the activities of the two overzealous cheerleaders around him who are constantly shouting, hyping and hailing him.
A lot of eminent Nigerians and respected members of the APC were in Osun State. Many worked even harder than Governor Monday Okpebholo for their party, yet none publicly disrespected Governor Ademola Adeleke or diminished the dignity of his office.
I therefore withdraw any statement that may have appeared unduly insulting or disrespectful. Political disagreements should never prevent us from respecting public institutions and the offices people occupy.
I equally encourage the good people of Edo State to continue to hold their Governor accountable. That is the responsibility of citizens in every democracy.

Today, I joined Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu at the combined 29th and 30th Convocation Ceremony of the Lagos State University (LASU).
It was a proud moment celebrating the hard work and achievements of the graduating students.
To all our brilliant graduates, congratulations. Your effort has brought you this far and we are counting on your skills and fresh ideas to help shape the future of Lagos.
Fellow Nigerians,
When we began this journey of reform in 2023, I promised that the difficult decisions we were making would serve the purpose of building an economy that works better for you and a country that is stronger for our children.
Today, your government presents The Reforms Scorecard. It sets out what our reforms have achieved, what they have cost us, and the greater costs and harms we have prevented by acting when we did.
I have therefore directed the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Taiwo Oyedele @taiwoyedele, to give an account to Nigerians, to explain the numbers, the choices we have made, the progress recorded, and the work that remains.
You deserve to see the numbers. You deserve to know what has changed and what these reforms mean for you, your family, your business and our country.
This is your government.
This is your country.
This is our account to you.

STATEHOUSE PRESS STATEMENT
BOI credits President Tinubu for success of N250 billion bond
The Bank of Industry Limited (BOI) has praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his leadership and support after its ₦250 billion Series 1 Fixed Rate Bond was oversubscribed within five days.
The bank issued the bond through its BOI Financing SPV Plc under the bank’s $1 billion Multi-Currency Instruments Programme.
BOI Chief Executive Officer Olasupo Olusi said the bond's oversubscription indicates investors’ confidence in the bank and Nigeria.
“The strength of the investor response is a vote of confidence not only in BOI, but also in the capacity of Nigeria’s domestic capital market to mobilise long-term capital for productive investment,” he said.
“As a Development Finance Institution, we could not have received the strong investor demand for the bond in five working days without the support of President Tinubu, who gave his executive approval for various incentives to encourage investors.
“This became a leverage and a positive signal to discerning investors. Mr President deserves the honour for this feat. This is further testament to Mr President’s support for Nigeria’s productive sector.”
The CEO said the goal of the transaction is to turn investor confidence into increased financing for Nigerian enterprises, leading to job creation and a healthier economy.
The BOI chief executive also said the ₦100 billion fund approved for the Bank by President Tinubu would be used to blend the bond's pricing and cushion the impact of high interest rates for manufacturers and other BOI customers.
“This is further testament to Mr President’s support for Nigeria’s productive sector,” Olusi said.
According to Olusi, the ultimate objective of the transaction is to translate investor confidence into increased financing for Nigerian enterprises, with potential impact on industrial expansion, job creation, domestic value chains and economic competitiveness.
The Bank said the transaction represents a significant broadening of its funding architecture, complementing its established track record in international capital markets with deeper mobilisation of long-term capital from domestic institutional investors.
BOI noted that the transaction demonstrates the growing capacity of Nigeria’s domestic capital market to channel long-term institutional savings into productive sectors of the economy.
The Bank and its Transaction Advisers have advised that final subscription and allotment figures should not be disclosed at this stage, as final allotment remains subject to Securities and Exchange Commission approval and the transaction is still progressing towards completion.
The immediate significance of the transaction, BOI said, lies in the strength and quality of investor demand, the pricing achieved and the breadth of the investor base.
These factors point to sustained institutional appetite for high-quality, long-term domestic assets and reinforce the Nigerian capital market's capacity to mobilise development-oriented funding at scale.
Proceeds from the issuance will enhance BOI’s capacity to provide long-term financing to eligible enterprises across priority sectors, supporting investments in productive capacity, local value addition, employment creation and economic diversification.
The successful transaction marks another milestone in developing Nigeria’s domestic market for long-term development capital. Further, it strengthens BOI’s position as a credible and repeat capital-markets issuer.

Release - Cement FCCPC Establishes Possible Price Manipulation
Tuesday, August 18, 2026: Findings from an industry-wide investigation conducted by the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC) suggest possible manipulation of prices of cement in the Nigerian market.
This is the preliminary summation of the 40-page field reports collated following a three-month cross-border study by the Anticompetitive Practices Department (ACP) of the Commission, undertaken in response to widespread public complaints over the high cost of cement, a common staple in the country's construction industry.
Concerns were raised over the comparatively high retail price of cement in Nigeria compared with other markets, despite the country's substantial limestone deposits, significant domestic production capacity and reported surplus installed capacity relative to domestic consumption.
Significantly, all the major cement manufacturers in the country cooperated with the Commission by making their records available except one of them.
Publicly available estimates indicate that three major undertakings account for more than 90 percent of installed production capacity in the country.
The ACP investigations extended to markets in Sub-Saharan Africa like Kenya, Tanzania and South Africa as well as Egypt, Morocco and Algeria.
Metrics adopted included the availability of limestone, the basic raw material for cement production, as well as other variables such as population, production capacity and consumption.
In Kenya, for instance, the 58.6 million population (76% lower than Nigeria’s) has domestic cement demand of approximately 9.3m MTPA (metric tonne per annum) in 2025. Retail price in Nairobi is $5.40 (N7,344). Kenya is endowed with limestone.
In Tanzania, with population of 66.3m (72% lower than Nigeria’s) and the domestic cement demand is 9.3m MTPA (2025), a bag of cement sells for $4.80 (N6,528).
In Togo, a bag sells for $6.75 (N9,180). Significantly, Togo does not have limestone deposit.
Comparatively, in Nigeria, market intelligence reviewed by the Commission shows that the retail price of a 50kg bag of cement rose significantly during the first half of 2026.
A bag reportedly selling for between N9,300 and N9,700 in January was selling for between N10,500 and N13,000 by mid-year. By July, prices of between N13,000 and N15,000 were reported in some parts of the country.
The Commission's survey indicates that Nigeria has installed cement production capacity of more than 60 to 65 million metric tonnes annually, while estimated domestic consumption is approximately 25 to 30 million metric tonnes. Nigeria is also a net exporter of cement to neighbouring markets.
Of particular concern to the Commission is that this level of production capacity has not resulted in the downward pressure on domestic prices that might ordinarily be expected in a competitive market with substantial excess capacity.
Information provided by industry participants has identified energy costs, depreciation of the Naira and its effect on imported machinery and spare parts, as well as transportation and logistics costs, among the factors contributing to cement prices. The Commission is testing these explanations against verified information on costs, production, pricing and market conditions.
However, the weight of preliminary findings provides sufficient grounds for the investigation to continue.
Next is to determine whether prevailing cement prices can be explained by legitimate costs and market conditions, or whether there is evidence of coordinated conduct, abuse of market power, restriction of domestic supply, anti-competitive distribution practices or other conduct contrary to the provisions of the FCCPA.
Accordingly, the FCCPC has issued Notices of Commencement of Investigation and Summons to Produce to the key players in the sector...

Good day Mr President Bola Ahmed Tinubu @officialABAT
A sad news broke out last night from the family of our entertainment veteran and legend, Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, that he is suffering from stage 4 cancer 😢
His daughter further said that they have secured an India visa for him, but due to his condition, he is not allowed to fly out of the county
The help they are asking for now is to have professional doctors that can treat him here in Nigeria
Mr President, please I beg you to do everything in your power to help Ogogo and provide him all the help he needs at this moment
Ogogo is a national treasure, he has lived and dedicated all his life, up till this moment, in the Nigeria entertainment industry, representing and contributing to the growth of our nation globally
Mr President, please save Ogogo’s life 🙏🏽😢
Don’t let his family and all his lovers globally cry over him

As we in Lagos and the NDC prepare to change the direction of our state towards people-centered governance, we offer you our collaboration at all times. The South West region must work together and rise together.

Alaro City is a planned mixed-use city in the Lekki Free Zone, Lagos State, launched in January 2019 as a partnership between the Lagos State Government and Rendeavour. It was conceived as a large city development combining homes, businesses, industries, schools, healthcare, hospitality, entertainment, and green spaces.
Its location along the Lekki-Epe corridor, close to the Lekki Deep Sea Port, is intended to support investment, business growth, and employment while giving residents a place to live, work, and play.
Interestingly, the name “Alaro” comes from the ancestry of the Epe people and refers to Alaro, described as a founding figure of Epe.
