My free bookstore was a success today!! Loved the drive ups when the students were in the car to receive books! Thank you @Usborne for the donation of these beautiful books. #foxc6strong
Just finished A Tree Grows in Brooklyn. Saved passages. Thought- what if Ss at home made 3 columns in their WRN? Read Francie's response to April 6, 1917 WAR & write their lives in response to Covid-19 in one column & world's in 3rd? Use senses. Experiences.
On April 18th we gather together again with @TchKimPossible@nenagerman@triciaebarvia @tiffanymjewell and so many others for a day celebrating community and coming together. Join us for PD in your PJs! #TheEdCollabGathering

This is amazing ! Started the first night of learning. I have had the great fortune to hear Cornelius speak a couple of times. I love that the boom presents itself as it was intended ; in his beautiful voice. #foxc6learns
The world is upside down. I wish I could support every student, every teacher, every community... Sadly, I can't. 😕
But I CAN share what I have. My recent audiobook is completely free for teachers (and everybody) this month. Be well. ❤️✊🏾🙂⬇️ https://t.co/KTO0vvyoPs
@LindaMRief awakened my heart today with her passion, creativity, and honesty. So many great ideas for my classroom and my reader/writer notebook. Thank you for your brilliance and your generosity! #fsli19
We think that the tine is long overdue to refocus our intervention attention on Tier 1. Please join #G2Great as we begin a new series this week and take a closer look at the many RTI missteps.

As part of our persuasive-argument-editorial writing we read numerous opinion pieces from prof. writers like R. Reilly, Leonard Pitts, and former Ss. We then list all we notice that comprises this kind of wrtg.
Working on opinion writing. I adapt @KellyGToGo question flood- Ss write topic they will argue & all kids in class write questions that pertain to topic. Writer then uses to guide research.
@teachkate After lots of anticipation, I am finally able to announce our district will have @teachkate as a keynote for our 6-12 #FSLI19 Literacy Institute. Please contact me if you are interested in participating in a tranformational learning event.
The mystery keynote for the 6-12 Summer Literacy Institute was just revealed! @teachkate ! We have a stellar cast of keynotes lined up and Kate will be our exclamation point on an amazing summer series of learning! #FSLI19
I am working on sharing how instruction should feel like a conversation with readers. You exemplify this work and I showcase this so many times through presentation I conduct with groups of teachers@teachkate
@hsengteach@ncte Teach the reader not the novel. What are minilessons and moves readers make that would have utility across books ? I believe your question is so very important for so many educators.

Writing can be the glue to pull a school together, and build a real sense of community. The prevailing idea should be: “Everyone in this school writes all the time, for many different reasons. “
