"You just feel that you really are in Africa, in the middle of the bush. It's wild, it's remote, because you're on your own - that's a very special feeling" - Jane Fox of Fox Safari Camps.
Ruaha National Park offers an extraordinary safari experience away from the crowds.
"In a blink, she was at the side of the game vehicle. I was in the row behind the driver and I just kept clicking away with my camera.
"I appreciate this lucky opportunity to capture a unique photo. Thank you Fox family."
Ruaha River Lodge guest, Gerry Breckon, was treated to a spectacular sighting of a leopard with its kill in a tree.
"When we first arrived at the sighting, there was another Jeep there, which eventually left. The leopard was at the base of a tree that held an impala carcass."
As the day gives way to night, listen out for the grunts of hippos venturing from the water, embarking on their nightly grazing journeys.
Stay tuned as we prepare to share this extraordinary experience with you…
Awaken to the soothing sounds of the Great Ruaha River as the first light filters through the wilderness. You’ll begin your day with an early morning game drive, before returning to Ruaha River Lodge for breakfast, perfectly complemented by the untamed beauty surrounding you.
As the day unfolds, keep your gaze on the riverbanks—nature’s stage—where wildlife appears as if drawn to the gentle rhythm of the water.
When the sun begins to dip, you’ll set off on another thrilling game drive through Ruaha National Park, Tanzania’s second largest park.
Our team will make sure the fire stays blazing and your drinks remain topped up as you end another day at Ruaha River Lodge.
Keep an eye on our socials for more Ruaha moments...
A day in the bush is not complete without an evening bonfire.
With a cold beer and a starry sky, our ringside boma area beside the Great Ruaha River is the perfect place to chat about the day's events, or to sit quietly and reflect on your Tanzanian adventure.
Lazy Lagoon Island is the perfect stopover before or after your safari to decompress with slow beach days, while our Mufindi Highlands Lodge allows you to escape the African heat and take in some fresh air surrounded by tea plantations and montane forest.

Over the past four decades, the Fox family have established seven camps and lodges across Southern and Western Tanzania.
Five camps and lodges are within remote corners of Tanzania’s most renowned national parks: Nyerere (formerly Selous Game Reserve), Ruaha, Katavi and Mikumi.
The closer to water sources and lush vegetation a territory is, the better chance a bull has of females choosing to graze in those areas.
Have you ever seen waterbuck fight? Let us know in the comments.
We love a big cat sighting like a leopard in a tree, but catching a waterbuck fight along the riverbank is just as exciting.
Competition between waterbuck bulls can be fierce as they battle for prime territory close to water sources.
Can you tell the difference between a male and female giraffe?
Among other distinguishing factors, one of the easiest ways to know the difference is to look at their 'horns' or ossicones.
Females will generally have fur on top of their ossicones, while the males' often become bald due to fighting, or necking, frequently.
Jim Skinner captured this photo of a Masaai giraffe while staying at Vuma Hills Tented Camp.
Can you guess if this is a male or female giraffe?
