Being a private librarian is indeed a dream job! Bookish bon vivant @elenawonders wrote this lovely piece for Oprah Daily about my work in home libraries and the story of Foxtail Books. https://t.co/D4f7RicYLm
@queenofbithynia I don’t think I spend too much time online, either. But I do know who this man is. Though does he drink it or inject it? And what do we mean by too much?
Part of my work entails the aesthetics and care of books on a shelf. I usually place things spine-flush, but set back 1-3 inches from the edge depending on depth of shelf / size of books.
Have always though I (private librarian) should take my husband (therapist) on the road to our home library projects that involve conflicted book lovers, dramatic decisions to be made. I envision a time slot somewhere between the Great British Baking Show and Pawn Stars.
I would like a TV show where a librarian and a woodworker travel around helping people manage their book collections. Talk about their favorites, which ones are valuable, which ones they might donate, then build shelves and book nooks and libraries to organize them.
