Interesting that Aaron Graft talked about his carrier clients looking to expand fleets. So typical of trucking companies to over-correct, add too much capacity, and then have to give back on the rates. Why not let this market run and see if demand picks up before backfilling exiting capacity? #FWToday
Early days of my career in logistics were spent behind the wheel of a box truck doing overnight runs for an expeditor - and then in the dispatch office for a consolidator where I’d coordinate linehaul runs with our OTR drivers in the evenings… this is insight worth knowing from someone who has lived through the changes/impact on the American truck driver…
The U.S. trucking industry is a perfect representation of how the ruling class treats American workers.
Some jobs face extinction at the hands of AI. Other careers are in jeopardy because of immigration. Truckers have to deal with both. It is profoundly unfair, but entirely predictable.
Gord Magill’s family has been in the trucking business for generations, and his insights into the state of the industry are among the wisest we have ever heard. Magill joined The Tucker Carlson Show to blow the whistle on the trucker fraud scandal no one is talking about, explain how a closed border could have prevented all of this, preview what the future may hold, and more.

Enjoyed the interview - learned a lot - some I remembered driving a box truck for an expeditor back in the early 80s - then late day/evening dispatcher for a consolidator dealing with the drivers coming in for their linehaul terminal to break bulk loads… the gentlemen I dealt with back then were nothing like who we deal with now. Sad state of affairs for sure. Thank you for the perspective. Hopefully it’s not too late to save this great industry.
@John__Ferguson My brother runs our ops team… he told me Sat am that Tuesdays uncovered board was the biggest he’s seen in many years. This will be our best post-Covid May.
Seriously, Secretary Duffy, you are running the best DOT in my 42 years in this industry. But unless/until you ban foreign ownership and operation of US carriers, you’re chasing your tail. They are at the center of 90% of what ails this wonderful industry. We have many friends in common - happy to discuss any time.
@Andersonj2273 Congrats Texas Trucker!! This broker would welcome a conversation on how we don’t screw over truckers! We without truckers and truckers without us doesn’t work for either.
Truckers are COLLUDING to drive up market rates!
They have an asset advantage that brokers simply can never have.
These rates are unfair and no truck driver should EVER be making 20%+ margins. PERIOD.
CALL YOUR CONGRESSMAN! WE NEED TRUCKER TRANSPARENCY😡

Pretty sure I agree with most points and this affirming what I said when I left the oral arguments that day at SCOTUS… I felt like the attorneys were trying to lose: and they did…
Two days into the SCOTUS shock, and here is what we are hearing:
- Truckload operators (big and small) are super excited
- Large truckload operators ("mega") fleets are big winners
- Large 3PL execs are very positive, think it will create consolidation and result in less competition
- Insurance rates for brokerages are already being priced 3.5x the rates from pre-SCOTUS
- Trucking spot rates are going to surge
- Contract truckload rates will also surge as everyone knows capacity is coming out of the market
- Brokers aren't sure of how to define a "safe carrier"
- Shippers are asking questions, but are not making changes
What are you hearing/seeing?
@SCmemory_2024@FreightAlley@GordMagill Feel free to DM. We’re 40 years in business this month. We sold to our employees in May of 2023 but a multi-generational family business … AND God Loving - MAGA family.
I’d suggest starting a power only operation to get started and get past year one of operating. Good broker operators have minimum service time requirements for operating authority before they will hire your company to haul freight. I anticipate those restrictions may increase beyond one year - or at a minimum more strictly enforced. Power only operators that don’t actually haul freight often see lower time of service requirements.
The problem is @TransportTopics unless/until @SecDuffy@FMCSA@USDOT ban foreign ownership of US based carriers, this will not change the paradigm. For the great majority, it’s not US owned and operated companies that are hiring these drivers. It’s the carriers with a UPS or Staples mailbox and a couple dozen MC#s operating from one of the ‘stans… Pakistan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan… etc Moldova, Serbia…and more… they have to cut off the head of the snake. Thats the only way to absolutely fix this mess.
Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy reiterated the stance that this Trump administration has brought back “common-sense rules of the road,” including English-language proficiency and valid working documents for foreign drivers.

We've got a gift for you for every time one of your Democrat friends blames President Trump for the price of gas.
Here’s the Biden Administration claiming the President doesn’t control gas prices.
REPOST this and remind them all about their hypocrisy.
