Friends, when Paul says, “Have no anxiety at all,” he doesn’t mean eliminating all fear and worry. And the clue is in what he says next: “But in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, make your requests known to God.”
Paul knows that, like an ocean, the surface of our lives will always have crashing waves and winds. But just as the ocean’s depths remain perfectly serene despite the storm above, we, too, can find peace by moving to a deeper and more central place: the place where you are here and now being created by God.
Root your life in Christ—and you will find serenity despite any and all anxiety.
From 1 to 7 October, “Aid to the Church in Need” is promoting “A Million Children Praying the Rosary” initiative for peace and unity in the world. I wholeheartedly thank all the boys and girls who are joining in this prayer in so many parts of the world. Let us all follow their example, invoking the intercession of the Virgin Mary so that peoples may be freed from the scourge of war. In particular, let us pray for the Holy Land and for the innocent victims of violence.
“The intellectual tradition of Catholicism shocked me beyond belief.”
“It was humbling to see how much work had been done for 2,000 years. And to me, it made so much sense that our Lord had left us a church,”
So beautiful 🙏🏼
A lovely moment in the parish today as we gathered for our Blessing of Pets!
It was wonderful to see so many people come along with their much-loved pets as we gave thanks to God for the joy and companionship they bring into our lives, and asked God’s blessing upon them!

This weekend we invite people across Ireland and beyond to pray the Prayer of St Francis. In a time of renewed tension around Drumcree, may its words help us choose peace, forgiveness and reconciliation, and speak with care.
Archbishop Eamon’s pastoral letter on our Diocesan Congress is now available to read.
The letter will be read at Masses across the Archdiocese this weekend. It reflects on what we heard at the Congress and invites us to take the next steps together, putting its hopes for youth, family and faith into practice.
Please take time to read it, and share it with your family, friends, parish, school or community. Some resources will be released in the coming days to help parishes, families, schools and other groups to reflect on the letter and begin thinking about the task of bringing the vibrant vision of the Congress to life.

The Church, led by @Pontifex, has assumed a central role in these debates in part because it is the only prominent global institution that has worked out a deeply considered anthropology. Ideas end up mattering more than the number of divisions.
Pope Leo XIV, celebrating his home state of Illinois for abolishing the death penalty: “The dignity of the person is not lost even after very serious crimes are committed.”
800,000 Catholics at the Papal Mass in Paris.
80,000 young people at the vigil.
15,000 police officers and security personnel.
No cars set on fire. No police officers attacked. No looting. Everything was peaceful.
That’s Catholicism for you.
Absolutely horrific.
A nearly 2-year-old child was euthanized in the Netherlands.
Doctors cited the child’s disabilities to justify ending the child’s life.
Human life does not become disposable because it is difficult, dependent, or disabled. https://t.co/YAJAYZ7ltn
There is only one religious tradition that has ever cared for disabled children and treated them as Image-bearers of the divine, and that is Christianity. If you look at how disabled kids are treated in non-Christian societies, or by secularists in the West, it becomes obvious who sees them as eternal souls created in the image of Christ and who sees them as less than human.
Guy at the airport with a clipboard: "Excuse me sir, can I ask you a few questions?"
Me: "uh, sure."
Him, whispering: "Hey so I'm not really supposed to be doing this on the clock but, can you hear my confession? But just pretend like I'm asking you survey questions."
