Our world likes to say that love should be easy or that love should come naturally but that is a lie.
Infatuation is easy & attraction is natural.
Love is hard. Love hurts & burns. Love suffers.

This Good Shepherd Sunday I find my heart deeply inspired by Blessed Stanley Rother, a martyr.
"If it is my destiny that I should give my life here, then so be it. A shepherd cannot run at the first sign of danger."
He gave his heart to his people.
Beautiful.
The eclipse was maybe one of the few things that felt like it was "over-hyped" but totally delivered. Utterly amazing.
God is so profoundly good to us and, from my perspective, put on a show in honor of our heavenly mother.
Blessings!
I offer all of this to ask for your prayers and if you're able to help the family with her medical bills. Her family is very humble and could use all the help we can provide.

A while ago I asked for prayers for a child at the parish school in ICU. Tragically she passed away at the age of 7 from Leukemia, only weeks after being diagnosed. She was anointed, pardoned, confirmed, & was surrounded by her family, teacher, & priest.
Bravely offering up her suffering, as she was nearing death she told her family "Jesus suffered more than me."
She was 7, loved adoration, going to Mass, and desired to be a religious sister. I have no hesitation that on the day of her funeral, I think we buried a saint.
"Confession is an act of honesty and courage - an act of entrusting ourselves, beyond sin, to the mercy of a loving and forgiving God." Pope St. John Paul II
Please come encounter the Lord's Mercy! We will be in the confessional Good Friday 10 am - 3 pm.
@jdflynn Poured immense effort into the school, a serious amount of financial resources, made it a ministry of the parish & not the other way around, focused on it being faithfully Catholic, & drum roll... it's growing, a dozen conversion a year, vocations, &... the parish itself grew 40%
In your charity and mercy, please pray for a young student at my parish school currently in the ICU. She is in need of a miracle. Please ask Our Lord for healing.
Suggestion - for your Lenten practice consider prayer, fasting, and almsgiving that helps you hear in places where you're deaf to God's love and prompt you to speak of that love where before you've been mute.
There's so much strife, fear, & brokenness. It grabs the headlines & our attention.
But today a little one entered the temple & everything shifted. I'm in awe of that and the countless ways God moves before we know it. He's always presenting new wonders. What grabs your heart?
@jdflynn So true... a frustrating reality. But then again, I remember when Jesus visited homes they brought him the sick and possessed. That helps.. a little bit.
Come, receive God's love, and then retreat to your home, use your fireplace (nice!), make some hot coco, and pretend this is what Christmas is like. It's what I'll be doing... if I had a fireplace.... whomp whomp.
A reminder that for 99% of us Texans, cold with no precipitation is not a reason to miss Mass.
I get it. Sunday morning cozy is a vibe, especially when it's legitimately cold. But please don't use that to turn a cold shoulder on the Lord's invitation.
That moment when you slightly panic because Sunday's homily isn't done because you've been super busy caring for the parish; so you sit down to pray and work on it & Jesus gives you a legit homily in like 1 minute...
Thanks, Jesus, I needed that.

Friends, please join me and the Capuchin friars in continued prayer for Shia LaBeouf. Shia was fully received into the Church through the sacrament of Confirmation on New Year’s Eve.
