Kneeling before the Eucharist is a profession of freedom: those who bow to Jesus cannot and must not prostrate themselves before any earthly authority, however powerful. We Christians kneel only before the Blessed Sacrament because we know that the one true God is present in it.
Together, on this First Saturday, let us turn to Our Blessed Mother Mary, trusting in her intercession, and confident that she will faithfully lead us to her Son, the Lord Jesus Christ.
Early this morning, I saw the Big Dipper shining against the blackened sky. A reminder that although you and I are incredibly small in the vastness of the universe, we are nonetheless known and cherished by the God who created all. Incredible!
To love like Jesus means to serve & give our life. To serve means to put others’ interests first, to fight the cancer of indifference, to share the gifts God has given us. To give our life means to leave egoism behind, to make our lives a gift, spending ourselves for all in need.
Perseverance in prayer is vitally important. Spending time with the Lord every day. Seeking his face. Never being "too busy" to pray. Surrendering to his love.
If we let Christ into our lives, we lose nothing, nothing, absolutely nothing of what makes life free, beautiful and great. Only in this friendship are the doors of life opened wide.
— Benedict XVI
Daily prayer. Frequent confession. Sunday Mass. A willingness to forgive. Sacrificial love. These are the signposts to happiness. This is the pathway to heaven. This is the way toward intimacy with God.
Every Sunday is a "Little Easter." A reminder of Christ's victory over sin & death. A summons to prayer & sacrament. A gift of rest & refreshment. A day of joy.
Accepted in love and united to the cross, the little irritations and annoyances that today will bring, are in reality, opportunities for amazing grace.
Christ paid the price for sin by loving us unto death. Are we, in return, willing to love Christ, even when that love costs us worldly prestige and acceptance?
Conversation in the parking lot . . .
Grandma-lady: “Oh, what a day.”
Me:”I’ll say a prayer for you.”
Grandma-lady: “You should have done that before I took six little kids into Walmart!”
😂😂😂
Authentic Christian discipleship demands a radical commitment to Jesus and his Church. It involves intense sacrificial love. It means that we will be opposed by family and friends.
Discipleship leads ultimately to the cross.
Jesus calls us to repentance and with a sense of urgency. What is it in your life at this moment that needs to change and be transformed? With the grace of God, turn away from sinful behaviors and walk in the ways of the Lord. No delay. The call to repentance is meant for today!
Last year, our Vacation Bible School was hosted by talking animals.
This year, our VBS is being hosted by a talking cupcake.
(really . . . there’s not much further commentary that I can offer)
