Praying tonight for Bishop David O'Connell, Vicar for the San Gabriel Region of the Archdiocese of Los Angeles. A genuinely good man beloved by the people of God for his peacemaking, care of immigrants and the poor. May he rest in peace and may God forgive his murderer.
In January 2023, India surpassed China in population with more than 1.4 billion persons. While India is only 1.6 % Catholic {Crux-John Allen, January 2023} that makes India, with more than 40 million Catholics, a strong and large global community.
Happy 545th birthday to Sir Thomas More: lawyer, Renaissance scholar, statesman, husband, father, martyr and saint who stood firm when all but one of England’s bishops succumbed to a tyrant. Fidelity to the Truth made him a free man.
Men,
You are called to be a saint. Stop worrying about your worldly possessions. The Lord WILL provide.
Christ is the Way, the Truth, and the Life today, turn your back from your desires and begin down the path of righteousness. The footsteps of Jesus will never lead you astray
The Cross kept in this chapel, was made by Saint Thomas Apostle, fanatics threw it into Lake Vembanad, Kerala, it floated over the surface of the lake & reached a small Island where some women cut it with a sickle & it shed blood. Church built in 52 A.D.
Just returned from India and among many marvels was a visit to a Syro-Malabar Church in Pallippuram Allappuzha, Kerala, Saint Mary's, dedicated in 52 A.D. Following discovery of a bleeding cross, desicrated by unbelievers but honored by a
2000 year-old Church.
In 286 AD, this soldier was pierced with arrows for refusing to renounce Christ. He survived to denounce Diocletian to his face, for which he was clubbed to death. He intercedes for plague victims. A brave man for Christ. St. Sebastian pray for us.
He who can make snowflakes out of dirty drops of water, diamonds out of charcoal, and saints out of Magdalenes, can also make us victorious if we but confess Him in His earthly and mystical life as Christ the Son of the Living God.
Do not be afraid of silence or stillness, listen to God, adore him in the Eucharist. Let his word shape your journey as an unfolding of holiness.

I ask all of you to join me in praying for Father Isaac Achi, of the Diocese of Minna in northern Nigeria, who was killed last Sunday in an attack on his rectory. So many Christians continue to be the target of violence. Let us #PrayTogether for them.
Let us allow ourselves to be filled with St Joseph’s silence! In a world that is often too noisy, that encourages neither recollection nor listening to God’s voice, we are in such deep need of it.
