Platforms shouldn't anticipate all use cases, but enable users to build things that you didn't anticipate.

"pgroll: zero-downtime, reversible, schema migrations for #Postgres"

Wow, very refreshing take on schema updates: using updatable views to expose old and new schema in parallel, until all app instances have been migrated. Great idea!

“Let’s stop the handwaving and design a sequence diagram. ”

This is what I would say to my team when I see a technical design session going nowhere.

Sequence diagrams are such an overlooked and powerful tool to unpack complex user flow across any number of application layers.

@derberq Did you try to ask for github repo links? The amount of 404 is huge!

[Francesco Nobilia @FraNobilia]

@roccomathijn Yes please share! I am very interested! =)

Have you ever had to deal with #schema #evolution in the context of #eventdriven or more general #streaming #architecture? #datarocks has analysed the #challenges associated with #schema #evolution and defined a simple #ruleset to simplify it.

@roccomathijn The solution we adopted was based on ACLs. Using Kafka ACLs you can build the graph of producer, consumers and topics

@ouvessvit @alex__morley Yep. The guy at the counter found a way 😎

[Francesco Nobilia @FraNobilia]

@alex__morley @ouvessvit I had the same issue in 🇺🇸. In my case the problem was not the 🇬🇧 driving licence, but the fact that the passport and the driving licence were issued by two different countries.

@gwenshap Kafka headers are so powerful and useful! They are fundamental to enable data lineage without polluting the value! =)
