The actual truth about this #StrangerThings scene is that it's actually a well written scene. I've been laughing at a bunch of straight dudes criticizing it on here and saying they could've written a better coming out scene. 😂
I do agree that it was not effective scene, however, but for three different reasons. It wasn't built up to effectively enough by the Duffers which is on them. They had to make us believe that the love the others have for Will would've made them stop at this critical moment to give him space to come out to them. The setting was also not the best place for this moment to happen because it had the air of an AA meeting which is not what you want. ALSO, and some of y'all might hate me for saying this, but Noah Schnapp was not a good enough actor to pull this monologue off believably. He had to be good enough for us, as viewers, to forget about Vecna and cheer him on coming out in this moment. He has always been the weakest of the OG actors and giving him this monologue was just a bridge too far for him I believe.
Just offering my honest analysis and opinion here and not trying to be mean. Yeah, there'd still be be those inauthentic, right wing, faux Christian grifters crying about Netflix "inserting" a gay plot line at the end of the series, but they'd have been drowned out by the near universal praise this scene would've gotten if all three of the other elements I mentioned had been effective. I always point to X-Men '97 as the example. When you deliver a product that is top notch, all the anti-woke grifters become white noise to the general public.
If there's a problem, it's with Netflix's release of the episodes. They would have been weekly, and the difference wouldn't have been noticeable. So, Volume 2 is clearly made up of three episodes taken from the middle of the series while waiting for the finale.
