...and we're back! We'll be releasing a bi-weekly newsletter (90's video game magazine style) delving into content and developers pursuing games that are more than just simple fun. Want to be featured, previewed or do an interview? Let us know! https://t.co/J1IKzZMEgB
@SigonoScott I think it's generic and general enough that it can't be a spoiler. Spoilers tend to be specific and expected. That's like saying that describing a horror game as having jump scares would be a spoiler, but since you don't know when to expect the jump scare(s)...
@cliffski Any chance we could get a "Marketing Games in 2021" blog post from you as an update on these ideas for the current landscape? Love the insights in these blog posts, just wish there were more of them!
Cliff Harris of Positech Games (@cliffski) has some excellent blog posts that distill traditional marketing knowledge and apply them to indie games in practical ways. Highly recommend checking them out for all #indiedev and #indiegame marketers!

Amazing how much this post from 2014 ended up predicting about today's marketing landscape: Video content influencers are king. Maybe it's cyclical?
I guess community management is a bigger deal today with Discord than it was in 2014.

Analyses like this one of Michelin's marketing strategy are invaluable: https://t.co/KxfsmxJNvB
Michelin (a tire company) branching into gourmet food awards was key to defining and controlling their brand association with *quality*.
Any brand can do this with intention!
@cliffski Great post here exploring how discounts on a game are basically a marketing cost, so if you have capital available in advance, you can consider spending that budget on developing DLC or other types of marketing rather than steeply discounting your game: https://t.co/ifLNJOOdCV
@simoncarless In slightly pinball-adjacent news, I picked up RoundGuard after hearing you mention it on an interview and it's been great fun so far! I'm surprised at how fresh a take this is on pinball + roguelite as my only previous pinball experience was from Windows' Space Cadet. Thanks!
@simoncarless Oh, I see! Looks like there's a lot more growing demand than existing supply, and new pinball machine prices are quite a bit higher than these used prices we're seeing (surprising to me, I didn't know pinball was such an expensive hobby!)
Simon Carless' Game Discoverability interviews/podcasts have also been a boon, especially his interview with @FutureFriendsVG. Mike Rose's GDC talks are also excellent, in particular his 2019 talk about building a community from scratch. His discord meta-games are so innovative!
Been putting myself through a crash course in #indiegame marketing to learn as much as possible for our upcoming game. Anyone have any #indiegamemarketing resources to recommend? So far I've found Chris Zukowski's How to Make a Steam Page extremely helpful!
