Can't speak to the past or future. But if you are a coach that wants to do HS sports the "right way", there is an extreme demand for your time. The more complex the sport, the more time needed.
Schools should continue to explore bundling multiple roles within the district for non-teacher coaches. The days of coaches merely being teachers that get a small stipend are over.
Some districts get the bigger picture and invest. Some districts are still in minimal survive mode.
In my backyard LITERALLY tomorrow night. The summer tour continues at Riverside. We will sit down with new HC @FranRamsden and multiple players!
#WPIAL
@WPIAL_Insider Yes. I just want consistency. I don’t want one group of schools able to access and build a roster via transfers while another group can’t. Yet we ask the two groups to compete with each other.
A monster stock-riser this year: Riverside Junior QB Aidan Gaydosz.
The rising Junior was carving teams up at the WPIAL Insider 7v7.
Last year he put the WPIAL on notice, this year I predict major wins 📈
The Grove City (Pa) School Board has hired long time coach and teacher Rob Haggart as the school districts new Athletic Director at a salary of $25,000.
@Watchman_motto There’s no doubt. I undervalued a pantry all through my 20s when I didn’t really prepare meals.
Now that I’m 35 with a family, my small pantry is overly full. Starting with a proper reorganization.
@Jordy__Long @ChristianMind_ Just one father’s advice: build a home gym. In same area / space, build a mini kids gym or play area. Bring them down with you when you workout.
@angusreid64 No check. In general I’d prefer offenses to be capable of going both ways and while the combos/angles/techniques may be different, I’m not sure there an inherent advantage by running it to a shade vs 3 tech; atleast the way we think about the play.
I have a feeling if you poll coaches, they may prefer a bit of travel to a few games if that means larger conferences & more meaningful games.
We often see “limited travel” as reasoning behind conference realignments and non conference games. I’m not sure that reasoning is embraced in the opinion of coaches.
@CoachBrown56@Coach_Rich4@WPIAL_Insider@CoachTish90@TheBallCoachAD@PA_TodaySports@D_Jackson_OL Just speaking for myself, in general, I’d love to see: less conferences & more teams per conference. I’m ok with more travel to accommodate this.
It would increase meaningful games. I’d think it would be rare for teams to prefer more non conference games than conference games.
@CoachDEllis1914@coachkou Yes I agree about the footwork. That’s a detail that would scare me away from mixing in U/C. It’s a whole system of footwork for your QB if you aim to be balanced. I don’t think I’d get enough upside for me to add U/C to what we do.
We do go U/C for QB sneak! 😂
@coachkou We run 100% pistol. No sidecar. For our system we wanted to keep that QB / RB relationship as similar to under center but with the upside of gun. So if something doesn’t work out of pistol, we wouldn’t carry it.
