It is painful when people who ought to know better are deliberately bent on keeping the masses in poverty and retrogression. You are educated up to Masters degree and live in developed society, you should know and do better. Your education and exposure is supposed to reflect in your thought process.

If you live abroad, it means you've been exposed to better. You know what a working system looks like. You know that quality education should be made compulsory and free to kids. You know that minimum wage should should get you your basic needs - including rent, clothing and feeding. You cannot be thousands of miles across the ocean pushing for policies that drives us deeper in poverty. Are you mad?

I've talked a lot about my life experiences and I'll restate. I went to secondary school with the privileged, and that exposure made me see what a good life was and made me want better for kids that grew up in the environment I grew up in, and for all disprivileged kids in the country. I went to UNIBEN and saw another side to life and realized comparatively that many Nigerian kids have their childhood and youth stolen from them through deliberate systemic poverty. It is not right! Having lived abroad, I lived the experience of a working system and wept for an entire generation of Nigerian youth that has been robbed of dignity of decent living. There is nothing special about the West. If they can do it, we can do it too. The Asians have done it. Other African countries have left us behind. The Nigerian people have to enjoy a decent life and a quality standard of living without having to leave home. We all deserve a better life at home.

As bad as South Africans are, they are evil to foreigners. You Nigerians are evil to your own people. How do you explain that you sit abroad supporting and promoting policies at home that keeps people in abject poverty and sink them further into a hole their generation will not be able to recover from. You are raising your kids to compete globally and take their seat at the tables of this world where countries you reside in are giving free education, preparing their kids for the world of tomorrow in Tech and AI, empowering their kids in STEM, giving millions of dollars in grabt for innovations. You want other people's kids to use your lunch money to start frying akara in 2026. Is that the plan you have for your own kids? The god you serve and the one you don't serve, will strike you mad.

If you are at home supporting this madness, you are not exempted because the whole point of your education is to know how to think. So fvcking think! Dem use poverty swear for you?

After watching the performances of Davido, Burna Boy, and Rema at the opening of the 2026 World Cup—at a time when Nigeria, the giant of Africa, is absent—I felt a measure of consolation. This was reinforced by the fact that many Nigerians playing for clubs worldwide are representing other countries. You are more of stakeholders in Nigeria’s future than I am. I am 64 years old; by God’s grace, much of my journey is behind me, while yours lies ahead.

It is therefore imperative that you rise to the challenge by obtaining your PVC, your most powerful tool for driving the change you desire.

In the last three years alone, over 15 million Nigerians have turned 18—enough to decide who becomes President, Governor, Senator, Member of the House, or Local Government Chairman. Indeed, enough to shape the nation’s future.

I know many of you are sceptical about politics and political parties. I understand why, but scepticism must not become surrender.

You do not need to belong to any party or wait for anyone to organise you. Organise yourselves in your streets, campuses, communities, workplaces, churches, mosques, and social groups. Mobilise, debate, demand accountability, and take part in choosing those you wish to entrust with leadership.

If you are organised and wish to hear directly from me, invite me. I will come and share my plans for you and our nation.

Do not sit on the sidelines while others decide your future.

I appeal to you to register and vote. Your vote can shape who becomes the next President of our country.

My young friends, this is your country. Take it back.

Not being classist or anything
But just take a look at the caliber of people actively involved in politics in Nigeria , they are the local people , mostly uneducated, all of them card carrying members with their Voters card.
While most of the so called educated and intellectuals in Nigeria are on X and other social media platforms, writing threads and lamenting about Bad governance via tweets and not participating in any form or way in local politics.
All these uneducated folks know who their state House of Representatives are, they know who is representing them at the National level both at upper and lower house, many people on X don’t have an idea who their own representatives are.
There can be no change untill people realize and understand that the post of the Citizen is the most important one Ina democracy, you have a civic duty as citizens.
There has to be much more awareness on citizenship education.

When I went to China, I woke up every morning, strolled to wherever I wanted, met people, explored places, but one thing I never did was to pray to God for safe travels between cities.

I never had to tell God to hide me from the Evil Eyes of kidnappers. Neither did I beg Him to shield me from accidents.

Because the Government had made it possible! All the basic amenities were provided by the government.

Without mincing words, Nigerians run Nigeria more than the government does.

Nigeria survives largely because of the resilience of her citizens, not the government or their systems.

Because government systems don't work well, people create parallel systems: generators, private schools, private hospitals, tech startups, private transport, FINTECH, etc.

Citizens pay for services twice: they pay taxes to the government and still pay for private services that the government is supposed to provide.

Tell me which government would sit up when the citizens are doing their jobs for them?
