@MaskedAntler They also think he’s a slot receiver and don’t realize he’s like 6’3 and plays on the boundary but is also solid at creating separation. Vertical speed. His numbers are efficient considering his average yards per catch. Get him actual targets and yea lol
@BoltLounge You have until May to accept or decline his 5th year option. You accept, you’re looking at about $18 mil. AJ Browns 2026 cap hit is $23 mil before restructures and he’s under contract until 2029. You either make a play for AJ or you take a pick for QJ. Pierce ain’t bad either.
@MaskedAntler You have the cap space to literally rebuild the entire IOL in FA. Majority of your defense is under contract aside from Oweh/Mack. Joe being a great talent evaluator adds value to those later round picks. Picks 3-7 giving them even more reason to get a generational game changer!
@RunThaBaII Aside from the different stops he’s made, he has worked under Minter since 2014. He knows the scheme, has applied it as a DC himself last year for Western Michigan and can teach it to newcomers while allowing those who have been here to continue playing fast in same scheme.
@TrenchesMatter Prior to his arrival they were at the bottom as far as defensive rankings go. Something like 84th I believe? Losing record. Finished last year 10-4 with an MAC championship and top 10 defense in the nation.
@Volture1O1 Knows Minters entire scheme. Coached under Marcus Freeman for several years at ND. Young, innovative mind. Does a lot of pattern matching as far as matching routes instead of just dropping into zone. Man-zone coverages with a lot of disguises and exotic pressure packages. Down!
@BoltsCity1 The fun option would be Etienne which is not happening. Gainwell would be solid but I think he returns to Pittsburgh. Have to see if the Ravens tender Mitchell, but him and Rachaad White are my top 2 options.
Kimani Vidal is a ERFA; I expect the Chargers to bring him back in 2026
FA RB names that make sense:
•Kenneth Gainwell, PIT
•Brian Robinson, SF
•Raheem Mostert, LV
•Jerome Ford, CLE
What RB do you think the Chargers should sign this offseason?
Can we stop talking about players or coaches being a fit with this team… when you lack offensive efficiency and have a bottom O line we should not be worried about one of the best offensive minds being a fit. Should not worry about “Above average” talent being a scheme fit on O!
To me it looks like the corner is already anticipating the route while he has eyes on the QB. Outside leverage and he gives Q a slight cushion with the leverage to take eliminate the verts to the outside and take away the inside of the post route. Good leverage to undercut imo.
On top of that the decision to trade QJ at his peak to get more of a return makes sense. Considering they have to decide whether or not to exercise his 5th year option next year anyways. Get some help in the trenches & giving yourself the option to add more picks on draft day.
Not saying we should have a fire sell but trading QJ and Dissly can be justified. Trey Harris is emerging and already proven to be a much better blocker. Especially in 22 personnel. Can stretch the field vertically. OG + Fisk makes Dissly expendable for a team looking to rent.
