@WesleyWhistle Why would a US Senator plan a foreign vacation on the Fourth of July (and with a big vote schedule a couple days before) ?https://t.co/QMdxlPHVXK
Last night was a fantastic celebration with our Friends of @SUNY! My thanks go out to @GovKathyHochul for her steadfast support of our mission . It was great to see @ltgovdelgado, our champions in the Legislature, our Board of Trustees, and all those who continue to help to make SUNY the best public higher education system in the nation.
❄️🐼 Tumbling in a winter wonderland! This morning, about 5 inches of snow blanketed the Washington, D.C., area, including giant panda Bao Li and Qing Bao's outdoor habitats. Flakes stuck to their fur as the bears frolicked and somersaulted. It was 🐾paws-itively the panda *snowment* of our dreams!

The bear pair will make their public debut at the @Smithsonian on Friday, Jan. 24. Follow #DCPandas for updates. ✏️LEARN MORE: https://t.co/rh9FL1ALFu.

Student financial aid is essential to ensure all HS students can pursue college or get the skills they need for 21st century jobs. Check this out to see how much aid goes to students in your state/district: https://t.co/L30Qk7nbXc Thank you @NAICUtweets
Education pays! We need to help students get the postsecondary education or job training they need to succeed, but this aid is in jeopardy. See https://t.co/pmKWTldwvl check our CEF's budget book for more info #Dontflunkthefuture
Federal funding can help increase rural teacher salaries so they don't get lured away by wealthier suburban school districts. #DontFlunkTheFuture of your child - support increased federal funding of rural schools.
Rural schools represent 28% of all schools in the United States, serving more than 9 million students. Critical federal programs such as Rural Education Achievement Program (REAP), Impact Aid, and Secure Rural Schools are lifelines for many rural schools and students across the country.
In 2023, AASA released a report on how districts rely on REAP funds for vital investments including technology and devices, professional development and staff compensation. https://t.co/wjftMz1FQI
Every year, more than 6,000 rural school districts utilize REAP funds to provide additional learning opportunities to students and ensure they have equal access to a high-quality education that prepares them for whatever future pathway they desire.

Cuts to federal funding could hurt rural school districts hard; they don't have the tax base of the wealthier suburban districts to replace federal funding. Investing in rural schools is a vital part of federal ED funding. Every student, every zip code, deserves great schools!
Rural schools face extra costs – for transportation, connectivity, and scarce resources, among others. School districts are often a community’s largest employer - see https://t.co/X9vIjlmdY2 or go to @edfunding for more info #Dontflunkthefuture

@tlharnisch Tough season; the opening again Michigan looked great (at the time), and certainly the best game of the year vs. Oregon. Maybe next year ...
Across @SUNY we have been expanding the services and support we provide for our military-connected students, and with Susan Dewan joining us in this strategic position, we will do more to help transition more New Yorkers from the military to their career pursuits. We owe so much to the service of the brave members of our armed forces and the dedication of their families. We know that our veterans may have different needs and offer distinctive strengths making this role essential to supporting their continued success throughout their higher education journey.
The ongoing success of CUNY Reconnect is no surprise given how many New Yorkers want to expand their skills and education. Those with credits just needed some help returning to our doors. I’m grateful to @NYCSpeakerAdams and our partners in government for investing in @CUNY.
Student success drives everything we do at SUNY, and we are committed to meeting students and their families where they are to ensure they thrive. SUNY takes pride in scaling ASAP and ACE as proven models for student success across our campuses and we look forward to continuing to invest in the next generation of SUNY graduates at @sunypotsdam1816 and across the system.
Today, 52% of @SUNY's in-state resident students attend full time tuition-free thanks to state and federal financial aid. It's essential that we continue to ensure that our students have the resources available to complete the FAFSA.
Congratulations to the recipients of the New York State Health Care Workers for Our Future Scholarship, including our very own @SUNY students. SUNY is committed to doing its part to meet @GovKathyHochul's goal to expand the health care workforce. Today’s scholarship recipients have demonstrated a distinct passion and commitment to addressing health disparities in New York’s most vulnerable communities. We're grateful for Governor Hochul and the Legislature’s leadership in providing financial aid that will fuel the aspirations and upward mobility of New Yorkers interested in the health care field.
