@tom_beaker@LVHoosierGK Agree. Andre, why isn't anybody upset about this? Euros who are basically pros come over, and take scholarships from American high school kids. Why doesn't the NCAA care? Then again, MLS and USL do the same thing, which is why so few Americans get to play higher level ball.
@moore_ej You guys miss the point, IMO. If you're a stud athlete, you see yourself as the best. D1 for right or wrong, is the best. Who grows up dreaming of playing D3? The moment you accept non-D1 you are admitting you are not good enough. And what athlete wants to admit that? IMO, few.

@DanPoche As long as the emphasis at younger ages is on winning, bigger, faster more athletic will always win out over passing ability. My son played DA and was consistently benched for big, fast kids, most of whom are out of soccer now. My boy is now the starting 10 at a D1 school.
@Don_K_Williams And how about this? "Division I athletes are required to enroll in school one calendar year after high school graduation and then have just five years to complete a typical four-year degree." How does a 21-year old satisfy that requirement?
@Don_K_Williams So how are they supporting themselves? I'm not being argumentative. I'd like to know. How do the 21-year-old amateurs you sign support themselves? Do they have jobs, rich parents? What does an amateur contract look like in France? If they play JC here, who is paying their bills?
@Don_K_Williams How does Luka Dahn come over at 23 without having been paid by his German club? He just lived with his parents? How are they vetted by the NCAA? Is it just paperwork? Calls? Do you have to vet them before you rep them? What is that process? This would be an amazing thread.
@Don_K_Williams Great subject. You know this makes me crazy. Why won't the NCAA put a limit on internationals like every other league does? Or an age limit? And you work with these guys a lot so how does a 21-year old European who'se been playing at a professional club, qualify?
Spend 8 minutes and watch the video and see why Thierry Henry said this about De Bruyne - "Average players complicate the game, Great players simplify it."
@Don_K_Williams https://t.co/bzm4CfOpRL. So here is a 21-year old freshman from France. Are we to believe this dude has been living with his parents, no income from soccer while playing with a professional club year after year? He has a 3-year advantage on US freshmen competing for the same spot
