I am imploring that the collective internet take a step back and understand how the justice system works, that this is not a plea of insanity at the time of the murder, and incompetence to stand trial is not a defense of the crime. It is a constitutionally protected right, that you have to be able to understand the proceedings and help in your defense.

Also, this trial is not over, the defense and prosecutor agreed to a 180 day hold, and the trial will continue once it is determined he is fit to stand trial. I like everyone else want to see him found guilty for the heinous crime, but the rage bait/ignorance over this is too much. No matter what this guy will never walk the streets again.

@MattWalshBlog Incompetent to stand trial means the defendant doesn’t understand aspects of the legal system, proceedings, or charges. Someone found IST is placed under psychiatric watch until until deemed competent. IST is not a verdict, but pretrial condition.
