It's been an irritating 10 days for the good guys & nothing but blue skies on easy street for the theta mongers, but alas we've arrived at day #11. Those cushy, pre-existing short premium positions turn into uncomfortable short deltas the higher & closer we get to expiration ⌛️

Every few years, it seems it's always the May expiry where the underlying moves the cost of the straddle every 36 hours for the 4 weeks preceding expiration.

We're about $4.00 to $5.00 < than 2021, but it's very similar in the sense that the options remained mispriced.

The theta mongers would be wise to slam on the brakes of that indiscriminate selling of May at-the-money.

Managing negative gamma on these straddles for 4 days would be a chore given what the realized VOL has been doing lately, but managing for the next 11 is problematic.
