This is why I have refused to go above my means as the bloody medical officer that I am.
In my short practice post graduation, I've had sizable surgical exposure and have built up fair competency in a few procedures under supervision.
But I will never ever help anybody with these skills because doing so would be me risking my license and playing Robin Hood.
I've seen senior medical officers perform major cases flawlessly but ran into problems later because of unavoidable complications.
If you like come at 3am with shock from a bleeding ectopic or intestinal perforation, I will either refer you or pump you full of blood, antibiotics and fluids and we'll wait for the consultant together.
