Now on top of all the other reasons the US and its allies need to send Ukraine more and better weapons, they need to do so because the Russians are just raping babies to death willy nilly over there. Kyiv stand nothing to lose and everything to gain by simply telling lies.

If the Ukrainian government knows it can promote its military interests just by making incendiary assertions without evidence and have those assertions broadcast around the world, why wouldn't it? It's a no-cost, high-reward tactic they can use to serve their long-term interests.
