If you grew up with radio, a great way to time travel is to find an artist that was popular when you were a kid, and play their third or fourth most popular song. Anyway, here’s Roam by the B-52s, brought to you from the back of a white Saturn minivan: https://t.co/bO1FQMIdUZ
Kept busy this year working with returning clients and referrals, and almost ready to show some new work. Been a loooong while. Made a little lander for now to say I'm booking autumn. Should have a full site in the next couple weeks! https://t.co/1cXV9tAioh
Every “how to work with designers” post reads like a sea monkey care guide. Designers can be sensitive, but they aren’t fragile. Just know design has its own culture that values coherence, sensibility, and discovery through process. You can’t count everything that matters.
This is the 4th time in my career that tech's attitude about design has swung btwn skepticism to romanticizing. It's all trend chasing until leadership sacrifices a metric for coherence, sensibility, or quality. If you want great designers, prove that you value what we value.
Designers don’t need special handling. They just need respect and curiosity from their metric-focused peers about what they want, why they want it, and how it could happen in a way that isn’t performative. Work must make space for the unmeasurable.
@lylo@mikesmith187 Don’t like how the stems meet the serifs on Lora. Maybe OK at small sizes. For me it’s: Source Serif (tiny caveats), Newsreader (bigger caveats), Crimson Pro (needs adjusted metrics, it’s tiny), Charter, Fraunces, Plex Serif. Might be missing some recent releases
