An important new study suggests a strong link between Epstein-Barr virus and MS. As I argue in my forthcoming book, many often-dismissed chronic illnesses may in fact be infection-associated conditions: https://t.co/MQW2jD3V4J 1
The number of major conferences asking me to give a presentation about #LongCovid to a large audience but are refusing to provide virtual options because they don’t want to “diminish the experience for in-person attendees”. Know what else will diminish their experience? One guess
I have never been to a New Year’s party worth getting a hangnail over, let alone COVID, even if “mild.” I’m 368 days out from my diagnosis of “mild”
COVID and still dealing with chronic migraines, fatigue, insomnia and decreased exercise tolerance. And I never even had a fever.
Soooo…full transparency and all jokes aside: if one of my team gets #COVID19, for the safety and wellbeing of our patients we will NOT be following CDC guidelines for safe return to work.
We will be following the science.
*sigh*
Delighted to share our work published @PNASNews on how enteric nervous system regulates the intestinal immune system and host defense against enteric pathogen infection. https://t.co/iCTobfyimQ

Although it was overshadowed by the pandemic, two important Canadian research institutions marked a significant milestone in 2020 – the @CRC_CRC program and @GenomeCanada both celebrated their 20th anniversaries this year. https://t.co/rRklD4L3cI #CdnPSE
Do you weigh out compounds to make buffers/media? 🧑🔬 I made a tool to help you, and me.
Mixology interconverts all sorts of units. It will tell you what mass / volume you need for a certain molarity, without looking up a molecular weight. Have a play:

Are you interested in mucosal immunology & host-microbiome interactions? If so, we're looking for a postdoc! Preferably someone with flow and disease modeling expertise. Lots of open projects! Intestinal epithelial cells, neuroimmunology, helminths, viruses...and great colleagues
BREAKING NEWS:
The 2020 #NobelPrize in Chemistry has been awarded to Emmanuelle Charpentier and Jennifer A. Doudna “for the development of a method for genome editing.”
The single most useful thing I've learned this year is that you can trick Zoom into letting you use presenter view!
Share screen -> advanced -> portion of screen. Change the size of the green box so it only captures the presentation. RT to make someone's day 😃
I don't know the implications, but I now have 6 months of very clear data demonstrating that the same force that previously consumed single socks is now consuming masks.
@hongbing_yu However, as he pointed out in the tweet I shared, they published their approach and describe exactly how they validated the primer! (Of course!!). It’s maddening seeing people just spread wrong information and not looking into the actual research/data. 😔
Tabelle 2. https://t.co/7gNsUfRWAy
@hongbing_yu Prof. Drosten and his group did a great job designing one of the first primers for SARS-CoV2 testing in Germany. But he constantly gets attacked from people - including MDs and the occasional PhDs - regarding the quality and validity of the test.
