@laura_pollock_ This corner a particularly good example, where else would there be a standard uncontrolled zebra crossing outside the national museum so that traffic flow is randomly and constantly interrupted/ foreign pediestians unsure if they should just cross etc.

Walker Smith was sacked for trying to prevent a repeat shoplifter from stealing Easter eggs from a Waitrose Store. Smith had worked there for 17 years. Apparently stopping thieves is against company policy. As a former shopkeeper can I say that policy is insane. No wonder there were more than 500,000 recorded shoplifting offences last year but we all know it’s running into millions of thefts each year.
Waitrose should take this have a go hero back pronto- but if not another retailer should snap him up. The CEO of Waitrose needs to review this bonkers stupid policy too- shoplifting is theft and must be stopped otherwise it will further spiral and it’s the ordinary customer who will pay with higher prices. Wake up Waitrose and smell the coffee- before someone nicks it!
@SETrunkRoads there is a cyclist - ebike walking along the carriageway on the A1 heading towards Edinburgh about 1/4 on from the Tranent on ramp. ( I'm on a bus headed in the opposite direction ignore the location spot?
@edinhelp Thanks for the update, appreciated. That is unfortunate. Of course the volume of pedestrians at this busy junction near major station etc. is very much higher than cyclists. Be great if they could reduce the green timing for right turning cycles to prioritise pedestrians
.@edinhelp pedestrian crossing here always showing red man when actually clear to cross. Hasn't been updated since traffic was stopped coming down. Can you get the pedestrian crossing resequenced to match the updated traffic flow?
@AccusedScots@joannaccherry Must be reading a different article. 'Medieval' actually a miss quote from a linked article by Jim Gallagher on the same page. As she explained in the article it's a reserved matter and she campaigned for the role to be split up and tabled a private members bill to allow that.
@AccusedScots@joannaccherry She didn't describe it as 'medieval' in the article and clearly explains she did try to do something about it when an MP ....with a bill.
.@edinhelp looks like the timing of the pedestrian crossing here hasn't been updated to reflect that the road is one way and single lane. Red light and red man for big periods on one of our busiest crossings.
.@edinhelp looks like the pedestrian crossing on Waverley Bridge hasn't been updated to take account of the fact traffic is now one way and one lane. Showing red man on a red light
The obituary of a loved, generous & witty friend. Missed by many but especially by her partner and family. May she rest in peace. Ann McManus obituary | Television | The Guardian https://t.co/S2DDuKzxjh
The "Scottish" Labour accounting unit depends on a £777,455 grant from UK Labour to survive.
This grant is not only double the declared surplus but is more than the net worth of the balance sheet.
As the prospective candidates in each political party start to jostle for position for the 2026 election, I see very few with the skills or life experience that will make a difference to Scotland's economic future. Should we be worried? 🤔

@Glasgow_Times Is it any wonder people don't buy / subscribe to local newspapers when this sort of homogeneous rubbish is pushed out as a story across numerous regional brands by an unthinking centralised team and passed off as a local paper.
@mistresstailor Thought you might like to see my solution for stopping people in the street to tell them to take the tracking stitches out of their coat!
