The Fremont-Winema National Forest is proposing changes to recreation fees at developed recreation sites across the forest. The Public Comment Period opens today, 7/1/2024, and runs through 8/29/2024.

Malone Springs boat launch, a pristine spot on the west side of Upper Klamath Lake, Oregon's largest body of water and the largest freshwater lake west of the Rockies, is closed to trailers from Nov 1 - Mar 31 due to spawning redband trout.

At just over a mile in elevation and north of Paisley, Government Harvey Pass is home to many of the breathtaking vistas along the OTT as it passes through the east side of the Fremont-Winema - but don’t forget to check the views on both sides.

Have you heard of the Oregon Timber Trail (OTT)? It’s a 670-mile-long trail from California to the Columbia Gorge that’s amazing for mountain biking.

It's that time of year when snow levels drop in elevation, & it can be challenging to predict conditions on forest roads. Forest Service roads are not maintained/plowed for winter conditions. If you encounter 3”+ of snow it’s a good idea to turn around!
